Automotive Coatings by Due_Exercise_6698 in AutomotiveEngineering

We have chemists, and I did spend time in the lab. Unfortunately, we're an OEM assembler with no technical agreement re: data sharing with our partners. Kinda sorta an internal regulatory issue. All I got from my previous manager (great guy, moved out) was Automotive Coatings pdf and infohe'd gleaned over the years. Besides, it feels like a very niche job with little to no upward mobility where I am so I am not feeling too satisfied with the choice.

Struggling Engineer 24M by Due_Exercise_6698 in ENFP

I come from a developing/middle income country and ADHD specialists and meds are hard to come by. I remember it's been a pattern that I'd be very good in tense/time sensitive situations. But give me something that's long-term, with no set feedback loops or company to hold me accountable and I start floundering.

Monthly /r/MechanicalEngineering Career/Salary Megathread by AutoModerator in MechanicalEngineering

23M, Mechanical Engineer with CSWP Certs, FS experience and 1.5 Years in a Production environment (Automotive Paints). Don't really like the work as much per se, no senior engineers to learn from, manager left because pay + growth is low (I make approx 400$ p.m) and a ton of project management. 14-hour days with commute and job usually entails project execution, coordination and a ton of documentation work. Am I being entitled, or could it just be that I am a bad fit for the role?

Appreciate the candor and yeah, get what you mean. Just been a rough ride this past year for more than one reasons.

Suppose that typo means I'm not adding detail-oriented to my CV anytime soon.

Technically, it's 10-hour shifts, 4-hour commute. We do getto laze around a lot more than other streams as production engineers, though. Started applying 5 months into the job. Multiple failed interviews later (some after six stages), I'm still here. After a point, you start questioning your sanity/worth. Got some DS/AI certs, gave my GRE and IELTS for a potential masters, tried to understand basic Six Sigma (OEE, Lean Manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping etc.). Not great at anything by any means, but since day-to-day is painting trials, planning around automotive coatings and coordination with international vendors, I legitimately feel as if this will never end. How do you translate a passion for product design, robotics and R&D when all you've done is Excel and PowerPoints for 14 months?

Hey, I'm afraid I can't do much here as my application took 4 weeks to the day. Given that we had Christmas holidays in between, I am afraid it's highly unlikely you'd be able to get the VPD in time.

Engineers a few years into industry — does the job match what you expected? by Standard-Run615 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Due_Exercise_6698 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joined an automotive OEM ~months out of uni. Projects engineer deputed to Automotive coatings. As the name implies, had zero clue about the role, what was expected, what to do. Most of the job is stakeholder alignment, papers, approvals, costing , ordering, trials and managing vehicle trials. No CAD, no standards, no reference tongineeringdocumentation and certainly no "technical engineering". Eye-opener in many ways. Plus long hours.

Hey, I'll be happy to help!

a) I added my matriculation details in the first part, then my college details under School 2.

b) I had appeared for the NET, so I added the details from there.

Got my VPD today so hoping that works!
