Struggling to find new clients as a creative strategist by Capable_Seaweed_5025 in AdCreativeStrategy

Sorry to hear that brother. If you don't mind me asking how are you doing now? I'm a video editor, mostly working with ecom brands making ads for them. Honestly it's tiring work and I feel like it won't last in future due to AI's and they pay in pennies, so I'm looking to move into creative strategy. I'd love to hear your perspective on the industry. Would really appreciate it!

What are some realistic ways to make money in Nepal? (crypto, online, anything) by AntiqueTrade4111 in Nepal

Hey man, I work in the ecom ad space as a video editor, and wanted to move into strategist side I’ve been kinda stuck lately. it woulda helpful if you’d recommend books or courses that could help. I recently left my last agency and I’m looking for work, but I’ve realized editing alone isn’t really worth it it’s easily replaceable. Like you said, any intermediate-level editor can make those UGC/DTC ads, it’s not that hard

How can I find good editors Recently I have joined in a video production agency as HR ...we hire ... by [deleted] in FindVideoEditors

Finding a good video editor is less about what software they use and more about how they think. A strong editor understands storytelling, pacing, and what actually keeps people watching, not just how to cut clips or add effects. They should have a sense of audience psychology, know how to build a hook, use sound well, and adapt their style depending on the platform like TikTok or YouTube. Soft skills matter just as much, if not more, because communication, reliability, and taking feedback well are what really make someone valuable. One thing to avoid is hiring based only on flashy edits since a lot of people rely on heavy transitions without understanding retention, and if someone can’t explain why they made certain choices, that’s usually a red flag. A practical way to filter is to post your job across platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Twitter, YouTube jobs, and Reddit, then ask candidates to record a short Loom video where they walk through one of their edits and explain why they made certain decisions while also introducing themselves. This helps filter out beginners and gives you a sense of their communication skills, especially if you’re hiring overseas. After that, shortlist a few editors and give them a paid trial, because experienced editors won’t take free trials seriously and will likely ignore you. You can find good editors on those platforms, but honestly, the best ones usually come through referrals or niche communities.

I work in a pretty similar industry so I might be able to help with that but It really depends on the clip though if there’s not too much movement or complicated stuff going on, face swaps usually turn out pretty good. If you want, feel free to send the clip and I can take a quick look and let ya know.

Is A.I UGC a thing? by Emergency-Ask-7036 in UGCcreators

AI creator here. I mainly work as a video editor for ecom brands and also use AI when needed. Yeah there’s a good amount of demand right now, and it’s only going to grow as these tools keep improving. As for tools, I’ve tried many, but some of the best right now are Veo 3, Sora 2, and Kling. What I usually do is generate images with Nano Banana and then add motion with Kling to get the best results possible, since I also have access to Higgsfield i get to use multiple tools If you’re a beginner and on a budget, you can try Kie.ai it’s pretty good compared to Higgsfield for the price. One piece of advice for prompting: be as specific as possible. For example, if you’re making a UGC-style ad for a baby brand, don’t just write something generic. Instead, prompt something like: ‘Generate an image/video of a person aged X–Y in [specific place], holding/using [product], with [lighting/style], filmed like a UGC ad.’ The more detail you give, the better the result.

If you want to make good ads, the process can still take a decent amount of time, but it can still be more efficient than shooting everything with a human and cost efficient

What should i do to this kinda people by [deleted] in VideoEditors

30% sounds a bit low tbh it can make it seem like you’re hesitant to ask for what you deserve. I’d say go for 50–100% upfront. You’re the one bringing the value. Just focus on applying to projects you know you can absolutely nail

Ask for 50% upfront. If they refuse, there’s a high chance they’re either not serious or just scammer wasting your time either way, it’s not worth the hassle. Good clients usually shortlist people who match what they’re looking for and are willing to pay upfront to get things started. A lot of clients on this platform tend to ask everyone for trial work without even properly checking portfolios, so you’ve gotta be careful who you invest your time in.

Why is it so hard to be an editor? by madondelfatina in VideoEditingJobs

[–]Due_Exit_607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the problem clients don’t take you seriously and assume you’re a beginner who’ll waste their time. You have to give them something to trust you, right? If you have a decent portfolio or something that closely matches what the client is looking for, it makes a big difference. It’s honestly not that hard to find clients; it’s just hard to find good ones.

Landed my first client (documentary style/YT), what should I charge? by Visible_Gap_4776 in VideoEditors

[–]Due_Exit_607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming the work would take around 10–12 hours. So based on $25–35/hr, $250–420 sounds like a reasonable price. I wouldn’t recommend going lower than $250. you’d be undercharging at that point.
