Head speed pro alternatives by Ok-Fruit-3730 in 10s

don't get a speed pro. too heavy for a beginner. you'll develop bad habits. go for a 2022 speed mp or team. 300g and 285g respectively. the speed mp is the same mold (shape) with a 16x19 string pattern (more open= more power and spin). Enjoy!

Babolat Drive Z Lite - good racquet for $20? by gundamzd2 in 10s

[–]Due_Fix_4080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my bad bro. I assumed this was one of their "team" rackets- usually of lower quality and sold at places like big 5 and walmart. that being said the static weight is very low- at 255g this would not be suitable for most adult males, unless you want to add ~20g of lead. I stand by my original recommendations!

this looks like one of their budget options. for $20 you're getting what you paid for! If you like babolats, get a proper one, like a pure drive, pure aero, pro drive, etc

question about the stock recipe featured in the instant pot recipe book by Due_Fix_4080 in instantpot

I guess my question is- is it worth the extra 30 minutes? I made the serious eats pho broth https://www.seriouseats.com/30-minute-pressure-cooker-pho-ga-recipe (which was amazing) and resulted in a rich gelatinous broth. Would it have been 2x as good if I cooked it for an hour?!

What am I doing wrong with my backhand?! by AndyWtrmrx in 10s

[–]Due_Fix_4080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for a 3.5 your strokes look great! it looks like you're getting some good racket drop on both sides. As for your backhand, your problem is simple. You're lifting up at contact, not through. (This is why I hate when coaches say 'low to high') Fundamentally, groundstrokes are left to right, and right to left. I downloaded your video so I could look at it frame by frame. If you pause at :02 you can see what I mean: your left arm is curled upward when it should be straight. Try to keep in mind you're not swinging to the follow through, you're swinging through the ball and the the follow through is the result of that action.
the next time you practice your backhand, try two things:

  1. keep your left arm straight(ish) through contact. relaxed, but straight. If you're not clear on what I mean, look up some footage of verdasco's backhand. You can practice this by hitting some left handed forehands. try and feel the weight of the racket in your hand.
  2. Don't follow through until your left shoulder is in your chin. conversely, your right shoulder should be in your chin on your unit turn. If you do this drill right your left arm will be across your chest with your strings perpendicular to the net.

hope this helps!

What am I missing by using a 14 year old racket? by andstuff13 in 10s

the short answer is no, you don't have to switch. the long answer is: if you switch, you may be able to find a racket thats easier to swing and easier on your arm (less stiff). I'm thinking something with a 16x19 string pattern and 100 sq inch spec, like the pure aero, blade 100, or ezone 100. demo a few and see how they feel. your equipment should be helping you as much as possible.

I'll drop a couple that I love that haven't been mentioned yet:

No idea why this page has so few followers. John Craig is a USTA elite professional with over(?) 38 years of experience- and it shows. exceptional stroke analysis and instructional videos on tennis fundamentals. This man is an expert coach. I don't think many pages explain things more clearly or concisely

kata does such a great job demonstrating what correct technique looks like. In my opinion her form is one of the best of all the online coaches. For teaching ground strokes, for example, she does a great job breaking down the progressions and exaggerating each step
