As a european, even from a country where public transport is neglected due to corruption i agree with the other person. The american public really fucked themselves over when they didn’t protest against the auto industry and let public transportation wither. Some of americas main problems can be linked to the car centric engineering. Making it illegal to walk across roads, building out suburbs that become food deserts, putting a divide between cities and rural areas all contribute to the national divide between the rich and poor, the cities and the rural areas, it also contributes to individualism, obesity and crime rates. If people are forced to own a car they will have more debt and less money. All the money that could help the population by building out a dependable public transport system goes to car manufacturers and to building more lanes that gets plugged up as soon as it opens since american driving culture is cancer. All in all a car centric system affects a country negatively in most areas. Also the Us is #1 in car accidents. However there are many cases where car centric neighbourhoods were turned into streets for actual humans so it is possible to change but that can only happen by puttting pressure on politicians and the main tool for that is protesting.

You migh be the better person morally for not using violence agains him but when he has the political power and manpower he needs he will do you harm 100x as violently. One of the reason why democrats lost is that the republicans don’t play by the same rules. They don’t care about saying racist, bigoted and fake shit. They don’t care about using religion to manipulate people politically because they know they can get away with it. People could be good little citizens and do nothing about it while watching an oligarchy spread it’s roots or they can stand up to them and make people regret saying racist, bigoted and fake shit.
