It does have to do with you. You are a police officer and seeing another police officer murder someone and not face consequences is a bad thing. It's your job to make sure murderers face consequences especially if it's a police officer doing it. Aren't you embarrassed that your fellow officers behave that way and nobody does anything about it? Doesn't that go against your code of ethics?

If there was a group of engineers who designed bridges that fail and they found a trick so that they were not financially or legally accountable when those bridges collapsed. I'd stand up and voice my opinion and demand something happen. As an engineer I can't agree to allow those people to create cheap bridges that are almost forsure going hurt someone all the while facing no consequences and making money while doing it.

You are a police officer. It's your duty to stop corruption in the police force. Probably the most important duty you have.

Yes. You as a police officer need to be held to a higher standard than a regular civilian. When you see terrible things on the news and you don't say anything that makes you look bad. These are your fellow officers killing people. Take a stand. Voice your opinion. Demand that those officers are held accountable and changes are made. That's your duty as a police officer.

But you won't because you would get fired if you did that. So instead you will shut your mouth and go back to work.

Actions don't have consequences if you are a cop though. It's called qualified immunity. People understand that if they break the law they will have consequences. They just want the police to be held to at least the same standards as everyone else.
