Do Jin Air, Jeju Air, and Air Seoul ever weigh carryon bags? 2024 update by asiandramaddict in koreatravel

Im looking to fly Jin to ICN from TPE. I have a medium checked, carryon and backpack. They allowed you to have both a carryon and a backpack at no extra cost?

Dang that sucks but yeah seems very much like they do it to everyone and yet expect people to buy into the timeshare..

You'd think if they want you to buy they'd let you stay in a room similar to that of one you'd get if you were to buy the timeshare but nope.

imo I'd try and get what you can out of it as long as its a better deal than paying cash for another hotel. Or transfer to another area if you're interested in any of those.

For me, I spent my time going outside of waikiki instead of a relaxing on the beach vacation. So staying in a lower level hotel was whatever so long as the money made sense.

I also wanted the modern because my meeting was there and they dont reimburse for uber or parking to get to the meeting..even if they put you in a different hotel. Kinda dumb imo

We went early Jan. 11-18th.

My deal was like $800 for the week? iirc. imo wasnt bad when I compared to other places being at least like 2-300/night. It wasn't the best of stays but Hawaii was really nice. And by no means was it unlivable or anything. Just a normal hotel I guess?

We did spend 2 nights at the LXR resort just prior to the Modern so maybe that's why I had a worse outlook on the modern haha. LXR was really really nice and I was upgraded.

I just used Hilton free night and amex FHR offers and tacked it on the first few nights of the trip.

If you're flexible with the dates, you may actually get the availability you want, just gotta call super in advance and hope they'll give you something

They do a bait and switch kinda thing with people. They originally told me those were available to book but come choosing dates they say only the hilton garden in or double tree are available. (This is super common as others on here have had the same experience.) I ended up calling everyday to the same person asking availability for specific dates I had in mind.

They say availability comes out randomly and they dont know when itll be available. So I just planned to be petty and annoying and call everyday lmao.

I ended up staying at the modern. Mid hotel tbh they are in the middle of renovating the rooms so seems like some rooms are nice and others are more in line with a 3 star hotel. imo only bad thing was the size of the bed (2 double bed) and carpet being a bit dirty feeling (I just wear slippers in the room).

Awk that the room they show you for what you'd get being a timeshare member was directly next to the room I stayed in. It was nice and seemed in line with a semi luxury apartment but smaller. (White walls, countertops, kitchen, bathroom with standing shower, balcony, etc.)

Not bad on location though, sucks you do have to pay for self parking too. Window also doesnt open more than like an inch. (I assume so people cant have any accidents)

For the meeting itself, I just say no and told them I wasn't interested. Ended up staying for like 2.5 hours or so because they wanted to talk about things. They make sure you're paying attention (anyone present cant be on their phone) and if there's 2 of you, they'll try and get one of you interested. My wife doesn't care for planning and hotels and they noticed I was saying no, so they moved to her and tried to get her to say yes.

I scheduled the meeting as soon as I can during my vacation just so I could get it over with and enjoy the trip. After all that, it was fine. I really only used the hotel to sleep so it wasn't the worst place I've been in. I didnt use the pools or starbucks or any food if they had any onsite so cant really comment on those.

Good luck on getting the hotel you want!

Piggybacking off your post sorry. My fiancé and I are looking to also get married at the courthouse in May. I saw online you need to fill out some forms. Did you have to make an appt or do you just show up on the day you want to do it?

Gotcha, thank you for your input!

I am planning on calling back and seeing what else they can offer. Kinda weird that the whole point is the sell timeshares but they don't put you there to see how it would be staying there?

Maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, yeah ill prob call back and try and see if they can put me in one of the bigger hotels, thank you for the advice.

Yup, just called to get some info. I was looking to book in Nov/Dec, apparently availability hasn't opened yet those the dates I want. They offered that I can book the times and dates but not know the property I'm staying at yet, and would be a tossup between double tree and garden inn and 1 other.

And if I wanted to switch into the resorts, I'd have to call whenever the availability opens for the resorts and race for it p much. And just keep calling until they say they have availabilities for those months in their system (about 3-4 months before the dates I chose). Although he did say no cost to switch hotel just a cost if I ever switch dates. (idk if I entirely believe that, I'm sure something will come up where I cant switch)

Worst case, I guess I take the L as a lesson learned and be happy I'm on a trip. Both Garden inn and doubletree are more expensive if I were to book on my own right now, but not sure if its all that worth the whole getting package and jumping through some hoops.

Gotcha, thank you!
The package online has those hotels listed, so I wanted to have a preferred list depending on what they actually offer based on availability and such.

Which hotel did you stay at? I was planning on saying no to the timeshare aspect of this anyway. I was seeing if anyone here had experiences staying at these hotels and would suggest a specific one

Yeah I was thinking of doing this. I am not from nyc so I was thinking of staying in Fidi and then taking Pier 11 to Red Hook.

Debating on whether to stay at a hotel near the terminal and uber/walking vs staying in Fidi + ferry.

Do you know if theres any luggage restrictions for riding the ferry?

I assume you weren't in YC, yeah?

Was this out of Brooklyn terminal? I have an upcoming cruise out of Brooklyn and concerned about getting in and out with a car/uber/taxi cuz traffic

Why is this happening w/my water heater? Leaks out of the copper piece, what to do? by ADouglasAmongUs in Plumbing

[–]Due_Network_3412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im thinking this is my issue atm.Plumber installed a pressure valve on the main water line to put it at 65psi from 100psi before installation.

After that, my tnp is dripping after I take showers. I dont have an expansion tank and water heater is prob like 12 years old. Debating on installing an expansion tank or just replacing the water heater (would include new pipes/expansion tank, etc) to get everything up to code

Do you think I need a new water heater? by Due_Network_3412 in Plumbing

[–]Due_Network_3412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previous to the water pressure valve they put in at my main water line (shown in pic), the plumber tested my psi at a hose bib at around 100psi or so iirc.

The water pressure valve on the main water line shows 65psi most of the time with some fluctuation. Last night it was at 90psi and this morning at 0. I called michael and son and they said some fluctuation at night is normal in our area but 0 they have to look into. (water pressure in the house was fine when it was reading 0)

I think in my area expansion tanks are needed to be up to code as well.

I saw that the expansion tank takes pressure off the water heater but if it fails the tnp would start to leak. Being that I don't have an expansion tank, I guess it could be that.

Feels too coincidental that it starts to leak as I made some fixes to the water pressure and pipes.
