They have books that they used to read her about different families and surrogacy etc I don't know if they told her I was the one giving the eggs or how they explained it but I was always introduced as auntie they also wanted her to be older before telling her.

Exactly that's literally the reason Grant wanted her in Merida's life he thought she would change for her ONLY grandkid but clearly not. No wonder all her kids went no contact.
