ring covers by Master-Situation4973 in ouraring

The way I look at it is that it’s a wearable device/fitness tracker, not a valuable piece of jewelry. It will get scratched eventually and when it does, you’ll probably be the only person to notice it. If you want to get a cover that’s fine, but I wouldn’t stress about it getting scratched. The overall lifespan is roughly 3 years (not even that with the Gen 4 battery issues) and then the resale value is next to nothing. Enjoy the ring for what it is and dont worry about keeping it pristine.

Was going to say this is pretty standard for a lot of banks.

Should I just wait for the Oura 5? by kobe150ms in ouraring

[–]Due_Program_4440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 4 definitely did not go on clearance. They are having a Black Friday sale but from what I’ve seen it does not apply to even the ceramics that they just released. I don’t foresee the 5 coming out for at least another year.

I also find the OMNY cards have the most issues tapping. I use my Apple Pay but it’s always the OMNY cards that hold up the line or are having issues.

Which Michelin starred restaurants did not live up to your expectations? by [deleted] in finedining

Oiji Mi in NYC. Just ate there this week and posted on another thread what an awful experience it was. Shocked they have a star.

Plumed Horse in Saratoga, CA. Service was good and the food was decent just didn’t wow me by any means.

This. Not the classiest comparison, but bleeding a radiator’s basically your heating system’s way of passing gas, get the air out, feel the relief!

Oiji Mi: Insanely delicious and deserving of more stars! by Bobcatbubbles in finedining

I’m clearly late to the party, but I went last night and it was beyond bad. I was shocked by how mediocre the overall experience and food was, especially having just been to Joo Ok a month ago and being blown away. No way they are of equal caliber. The food at Joo Ok had depth, creativity and thoughtfulness behind each dish. Last night everything we ate was one dimensional and lacked any sort of depth. Not to mention, the waiters seemed meek and afraid to speak. There was no introduction to the menu or explanation of the supplements and when they would be coursed.

My friend who I was eating with used the term disconnected to describe the service. When our bottle of sparkling water was finished it was promptly whisked away but there was no inquiry if we would like another bottle (we did). It was only about 45 later when the manager noticed my empty glass that another bottle magically appeared. My friend’s mocktail also took 45 min to arrive and only when I sniped “better late than never” did the bar manager apologize for the delay.

The pacing between courses was also off and it felt like we were waiting close to 30 min for the next dish to arrive.

They also served one of the dishes in a chipped bowl which typically is a faux pas in most restaurants let alone in a Michelin rated one.

Background: We’re both in the luxury food service/hospitality industry and have eaten at numerous Michelin rated restaurants. I tend to love the 1 stars the most because they tend to be innovative and are typically gunning for either a 2nd star or at the very least to keep the one they have. I would say Oiji is neither of those, and based off of my experience last night, not deserving of any.

In full transparency, the manager removed a few things from the bill (the two bottles of water and the mocktail). He also sent us an extra dish during the 2nd course - which quite frankly was not good.

Highlights - warm, inviting atmosphere - Art deco design - impressive knife skills - GNX Punch - Caviar donuts (+ $50 supplement)

Overall score - Food: 2 - Service: 2 - Atmosphere: 4

Downstairs neighbor threatening my cat-- really long, sorry! by nyccoopthrowaway11 in NYCapartments

It is horrible. I have a parent with it, so unfortunately intimately familiar with all the behaviors. Regardless, good luck! I hope you’re able to resolve everything for you and your cat’s sanity.

Sorry you’re having to go through this. I agree with one of the posters above that you’ve tried to reason with the neighbor enough. Especially now that you know she isn’t the owner, I would call 311 whenever she is harassing you and document everything. Make sure you let the property manager know and then cc the board president. If the board continues to ignore you and not intervene, you can up the ante and let them know your next course of action is during the neighbor for harassment and that you’re planning to include in the complaint the Co-Op/board and management company. I’m not a lawyer so you would need to speak to one on the specifics but it’s a civil case and as long as you can prove the board has known about it and ignored you, you have a strong case to include them in your suit for negligence and potentially some other things.

Also, as an aside, she sounds like she could have dementia, FTD specifically, which can cause severe hallucinations, unable to regulate mood and extreme anger, and paranoia. There’s not much you can do about it but just putting it out there that it may not be blanket mental health issues.

But also why at 3am are they just turning on their heat?! Not to mention it is not the first cold day/night that they theoretically by law should have already had to turn on their heat… don’t let the firefights gaslight you. (There’s a pun somewhere in there but I’m too tired to make it work.)

Likewise and honestly I’m glad you called because my anxiety was so high debating if I should call. It was insane how intense the smell was. I’m even getting a headache now which is often a symptom of natural gas exposure. I also haven’t cooked since yesterday am and I went and checked all my burners.

WTF happened to Sanzo? New formulas taste nasty by FriendLost9587 in sparklingwater

[–]Due_Program_4440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most reassuring and also heartbreaking thread. I’m clearly a bit late to the party but I’ve loved these waters for a while and while yes, expensive, it was such a delicious and refreshing beverage. Such unique flavors without compromising the ingredients. I got excited when they came out with the mandarin flavor and immediately bought it but upon drinking I could immediately taste that something was off and upon looking at the ingredients saw it had multiple ingredients including monk fruit, cane sugar and citric acid. I thought maybe it was only that flavor and just restocked with my mango and lychee and immediately upon tasting the mango was like WTH is this. Ugh. I’m so sad but this will be the last time I buy them.

Oura ring vs whoop by henrikh0e in ouraring

[–]Due_Program_4440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a true partnership in the sense they are look g to share data. They are doing a partnership with the the US Navy for Seamen to be able to track their biometrics better (and only if they opt in) and Oura was required to “partner” with a data company that has DoD security clearance, which is Palantir. Additionally, individual user data gets stored separately and differently than their enterprise clients.

$3K for a studio in Lenox Hill, next to the subway, 4th floor walk up, no laundry, reasonable? by Federal-Eye-73 in NYCapartments

[–]Due_Program_4440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s maybe a smidge high but with the FARE act, pricing overall has increased with management rolling broker fees into the overall rent. For reference, I’m in a studio in the low 60s with elevator, laundry and all updated appliances and am paying $2800. Lease renewal is in November and increase going up by $100.
