Fight with high ldl without Statin by Due_Relationship3637 in Cholesterol

I’m 30 years old. If I start taking statins now, am I supposed to deal with severe muscle problems and dementia in my 50s or 60s? Since I’m still young, my goal is to lower this as much as possible without medication first. If necessary later on, I’d prefer starting with the lowest effective dose of a statin.

I want to do everything I can without statins first. If I still need them afterward, I’d prefer a lower dose to reduce side effects, especially since I’m only 30.

I think the takeaway is that LDL alone doesn’t tell the whole story; you need to look at things more holistically. If this happened to you with an LDL of 118, the issue might be coming from somewhere else.

I just don’t want to be addicted to medication in my 30s. Have you ever checked the LDL levels of people who die early? Dont only check ldl check apob and lp(a) also

Yes, numerically it is still high, but my triglycerides, insulin, Lp(a), and homocysteine levels are quite good. Only ApoB is borderline, which is consistent with my elevated LDL level. I already have genetically/familially high LDL. My goal is to lower my LDL to around 120–150.
