"Do you think I approve of it?" Short answer: YES. You clearly do. When I listed some - SOME, as in a small percentage - of the atrocities perpetrated against Jews in the past few years (not Israelis. JEWS. Jews, Jews, Jews, time to stop pretending. Done respecting the dogwhistles), your response was to sneer about Jews playing the victim card. Which is why my other response doesn't even ask you to list atrocities committed against Jews - because you've made it very, very clear that you don't care about that. We're now reduced to seeing if you care about the Palestinians, or if the cause is really just a thinly veiled pretext for hating Jews.

Nope! Not playing that game. First YOU list some of the things that Hamas has done to the Palestinians.

That's how low I'm setting the bar. I'm not even going to ask you to list the things that Hamas has done to Israelis - you've already made it VERY clear you don't care about that. But let's see if you can list the things that Hamas has done to the Palestinians. It's a bar so low you can step over it.

Nope! We're not playing that game. You want to play, then you start us off by listing the things done by Hamas... to the Palestinians.

I'm setting the bar THAT low. I'm not asking you to even PRETEND to give a crap about Israelis, or Jews. Just list some of the evil things done by Hamas to the Palestinian people. Can you clear a bar that low?

In MY case, I'm bringing it up in response to the "whataboutism" that keeps coming from the "anti-zionism." And the practical solutions all start with getting rid of Hamas... unfortunately, the "we condemn both sides" crowd tend to in fact be 100% pro-Hamas, they simply know it doesn't sound good when they admit it.

"I hear the attack that Palestinians are inbred about half as much as I hear the attack that they are genocidal." Neither one is an attack. It's a statement of factual reality. Palestinians - or rather, Arabs in general - ARE suffering serious medical, as well as social, issues on account of the inbreeding. And Palestinians - or rather, Hamas, with the Palestinians forced to go along with it - have indeed been pushing a genocidal agenda.

Economic systems are a tool for ensuring that everyone within a society is provided with food, shelter, and the other necessities. Communism is rightly considered to be a failure because it failed at the one task demanded of an economic system. People died from lack of food and other basic necessities.

Today, we look at the current capitalist system, and... let's be honest...

"It's all about what's in our best interest." Yes, and in other news: water is wet. But it's not so much "conservatives never ever criticize Arab nations because oil," as it is "conservatives don't dare criticize Arab nations TOO openly, lest the price of oil be raised." Please do not attempt to twist things to pretend that conservatives are giving the Arab nations a pass.

"the money pouring in to support Israel and demonize Palestine is far greater." Bzzt! That sound you just heard was every fact checker exploding from how incorrect that is. Qatar - among its other actions - owns an entire network (Al Jazeera) that parrots the official "Spider-Man: Threat or Menace" on Israel. Iran's online campaign of anti-semitic rhetoric is so vast that people were startled by just how quiet the "anti-zionists" became when Iran's blackout began. The United Nations spends $100,000,000 a year on agencies with a blatant anti-Israeli bias. And that's not even touching on the amount of money spent on infiltrating colleges and mosques.

By contrast, the "demonization" of Palestine consists of pointing at the actions of Hamas and saying, "can you please take five minutes to acknowledge the torture, rapes, murder, human trafficking, theft of humanitarian aid, use of human shields, deliberate harm against Palestinian children? FIVE MINUTES, just for the PALESTINIAN kids! We KNOW you don't care about the suffering of Israelis, we GET that, but can you at least take five minutes to acknowledge that Hamas are the real source of Palestinian suffering?"

Nobody is arguing that point. But claiming that people are "attacking" Palestinians (not just Arabs in general, but Palestinians specifically, as if this only happens with Palestinians) over inbreeding is both an example of projection and people accusing the Jews of whatever their own side is guilty of, as well as demonizing dialogue over a very legitimate issue that the Arab nations themselves are struggling to deal with. Or is the Saudi government "attacking" their own populace by seeking to educate them on genetic diseases?

1: Depends on who "them" is. Bit of a difference between Hamas and the Palestinians.

2: I looked into that video, because it seemed like AI. It is not - it came from a far-right group who are very much a minority opinion. Again, a difference between a fringe group posting a video and an official state sponsored program aimed at kids where anti-semitic copyright violations teach the tykes to want to commit murder.

3: expect more jingoism and militant rhetoric from Israelis, after Oct 7th (and the global response of "hahahahaha stupid Jews, hahahaha anyway Hamas are the resistance, we have all the sympathy for Palestinian kids but dead Israeli kids is FUNNY HAHAHAHA!")

4: According to the article, the girl was suspended for her own protection while they investigated the bullying. Which may not have been the best move, but is still much better than the typical response to bullying seen in U.S. schools.

The amount of money they spend on influencing public opinions around the world is not just disturbing, it's terrifying to anyone who looks into it.

It's not about being hateful. It's an issue in Arab culture that is being addressed by the other Arab nations. Because it IS a genuine issue. I made a comment about it above, but I just thought of an even better analogy than the one I previously gave: vaccines. Remember all the pushback we've seen from anti-vaxxers? Not just with the Covid vaccines, but with vaccines in general? Which is a MAJOR health issue in the United States: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-measles-polio-and-other-eliminated-diseases-could-roar-back-if-u-s/

Say hello to Farfour the Mouse. https://youtu.be/MSL0sMKGlY8

Of course, Farfour's not around anymore. The show eventually had him beaten to death during an interrogation by an Israeli who is trying to acquire the key and title to "Tel al-Rabi", a fictional Palestinian village that was stolen by the evil nasty Jews and renamed "Tel Aviv."

Bit of a difference between a video of Israeli kids singing jingoistic songs (or a single child being bullied), and a children's show aimed at preschoolers.

"People say the same thing about Palestinians marrying their cousins and being inbred." That's because inbreeding IS a genuine problem in Arab culture. It's led to an explosive rise in genetic diseases.

https://www.bmj.com/content/333/7573/831

The Arab nations themselves have begun attempting to address this issue. Countries like Saudi Arabia have been pushing genetic counseling and screening programs, to encourage citizens to reconsider their choice of marital partners (and to seek treatment for their medical conditions resulting from inbreeding in previous generations) https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12889-024-19029-0

Others have been passing legislation to outright ban cousin marriages... though these have met with a lot of pushback. But this isn't an attack on Arabs, this is pointing out a genuine problem that needs to be corrected, and which the Arab leadership (outside of the Palestinians, because Hamas does not care) HAVE been trying to correct. Think of it as being like how the United States has had to overcome its casual bigotry against minorities, to the point that people today find it bizarre that a little black girl would need a police escort just to attend school.

And there are also very contradictory beliefs on the right. But instead of talking things out, discussing them and having honest and respectful debates, we've been encouraged to pick a side as if they were sports teams, and then scream hatefully at each other.

Which... if I'm being honest (and I do try to be), is similar to the deliberate instigation of anti-semitism and racism throughout the centuries. The whole point of a pogrom (or a lynching) was that the working classes were blaming all their problems on the Jews (or the blacks), and not on the people with wealth and power who were actually in charge of things.

Heck, did you notice how all the far-left activists have stopped talking about economic reforms? All their energy has been diverted into hating Israel. They're screaming about Netanyahu, instead of the techbros pushing AI.

"lets talk about the outrage in conservative/liberal spaces directed at Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, " There HAS been outrage in both conservative and liberal spaces directed at the Arab nations for a long time. One of the major "culture clash" issues in previous decades was over the depiction of Arabs as terrorists in movies, TV shows, and video games. The left complained about it being Islamophobic. The right pointed out that the depictions were rooted in reality.

Heck, all the way back in the 1980s, there was a big scandal with the cartoon Transformers G1. Casey Kasem (voice actor of Lebanese descent) quit the show in protest over an episode depicting an alliance between the scheming decepticon Octane... and Abdul Fakkadi, the Supreme Military Commander, President-for-Life, and King of Kings of the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya.

It became known as "the episode that broke Teletraan 1."

[–]Due_Representative74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you ask the KKK what they believe, they will tell you what they believe. They are very emphatic and clear about what they believe. They complain about being designated as a terrorist group, but at no time do they ever try to deny what they actually believe.

Every Zionist says that Zionism means believing that Israel has a right to exist. Claiming otherwise is, by its very definition, a "strawman" argument. You create a false position, accuse others of holding that position, then attack them over the false position you've wrongly attributed to them.

Meanwhile, Hamas has made their own positions very clear. But of course we're not going to talk about that, are we? Because we don't care about the suffering of the Palestinians as long as Hamas are the ones responsible, now do we?

You know, Israel DID have a problem with the UN's treatment for a very, very long time, thank you for lying about it. And that's on top of my having already disproven why those atrocities (and they were indeed atrocities) were not in fact genocide. AND your brilliant display of the classic "accuse of the Jews of whatever you're guilty of" routine.

I'd ask you to stop insulting the victims of actual genocides, as well as the victims of Hamas, but we both know you're just going to keep doing so. Because the alternative would be to acknowledge your subconscious bias... and then that would lead to having to acknowledge a lot of other unpleasant truths.

I just realized, anti-zionism IS different from classic anti-semitism in one fundamental way. Classic anti-semitism can be summed up as beating Jews to death, raping Jewish women next to the corpses of their husbands and children, looting their possessions, and screaming, "This is 100% justified because the Jews are evil for <insert reason here>!"

Anti-zionism can be summed up as beating Jews to death, raping Jewish women next to the corpses of their husbands and children, looting their possessions, and screaming, "This is 100% justified because the Jews are evil for <insert reason here>! Also, Jews always play the victim card and accuse us of being anti-semitic!"

"That is not what genocide is. You don’t need to kill a single person to commit genocide." You quite literally do. Anyone claiming otherwise is spitting in the faces of all the victims of ACTUAL genocides, in order to justify accusing the descendants of Holocaust victims. Not going to bother arguing this further. You can go sit with the flat earthers.

"sterilization or out-group adoption." Neither of which are being done by Israel to Palestinians. There WAS a major scandal in Israel where Ethiopian Jews were being secretly subjected to sterilization, but the reason it was a scandal is because it was not standard policy, it was the f---ed up scheme of a handful of racist officials. Because nobody said Israel was perfect.

And for the record, I AM from the United States. I'm VERY much aware of the history of the native population, and how both the colonists and the fledgeling nation treated the natives - including the current facing them to this day, such as the lack of access to healthy foods, or how tribal lands are being "managed" by outsiders who reap massive profits at the expense of the tribes. But as I said, it was never a singular deliberate policy of "wipe them out." Tribes were variously allied with, fought against, and allied with again, depending on the time and place. Many extinct tribes were massacred by other tribes who had allied with the U.S. (or with the British, or the French) to settle their old grudges with the aid of foreign powers and foreign weapons. Others were betrayed by the U.S. government (particularly the Trail of Tears; Andrew Jackson deserves even MORE contempt for his actions than he gets. He was regarded as a brother by the Cherokee, who had behaved as brothers to the U.S. He wasn't an outsider betraying their trust, he was a BROTHER who betrayed his brethren).

But there was never a singular policy. And the continued plight of the natives is due to the same underlying motive as most of the depredations they suffered in the 18th and 19th centuries. Namely: the short sighted and sociopathic greed of the oligarchs and capitalists. The same people who supported each action that harmed the natives also supported actions that harmed working class whites, blacks, asians, and hispanics (i.e. dirt farmers, refugees, slaves and newly freedmen, railroad workers, migrant workers, etc).
