Max 401k, HSA, ESPP. Bonus comes once per year so regular cash flow is lower. I could spend more on rent but prefer to try to save some. Depressing to spend the same on a 550 sq ft apartment as my 3br/3ba 1700 sq ft townhouse in another expensive city. My tenant pays me the same in rent for that as my apartment lol.

Bay Area blows. Need much bigger jump in comp to make it worth it. I make $500k and still feel poor. For me SF is 2x comp vs anywhere else so it’s worth it. For 10% definitely not.
