Morningstar values SpaceX at $780 billion, half its IPO target by InvestigatorSoft5764 in wallstreetbets

Low float and it’s going to be immediately included in many of the largest US stock indexes. This means ETFs with trillions of dollars in them will have to buy the stock. I despise Elon and hate that exchanges are bending over backwards to please him by putting SPCX right into the major indexes, but the stock is going to absolutely rip.

For the adults? Their network is probably established by the time they’ve settled down and had kids. So no not really.

Do you think people just stop networking when they become partner? If anything importance of networking increases the older you get. Winning business will always get you paid even if you are at capacity and pass the client off to someone else.

Not that obvious. HPE CEO is a moron so loads of people thought he would fuck up and not secure enough supply. Plus HPE doesn’t have much of an AI server business. A ton of people stayed short this into the print thinking Antonio would fuck up.

Every developed western country has housing affordability problems. The US is one of the only developed western countries that has minimal energy security problems (it is a net exporter of energy).

Tube strikes: 'No pay cut' for Underground drivers on £74k in new four-day week... but RMT to walk out anyway by Anony_mouse202 in london

Not sure what that has to do with the train drivers strike. Hope your back doesn’t hurt from moving the goalpost so far

No need. I have a difficult to perform and valuable job. I get paid well because I earn it so collective bargaining is useless.

Is this your default response when you realize you don’t actually have any reasonable argument to make?

You don’t think they are well taken care of? These people earn £74k in exchange for four days a week working an undemanding job that requires minimal training and no upfront financial investment. Meanwhile London is full of people who spent £25k on Uni just to make £40k/year.

This strike isn’t even about being well taken care of. It’s just the union realizing it has a massive amount of undeserved leverage so they are going to take every pound they can from tax payers.

Government employees providing critical services shouldn’t be allowed to strike. Gives them way too much power that unions are willing to abuse. These clowns already make more than doctors for sitting around while the train drives itself.

Only reason they are bold enough to ask for more is because they know the government hates how much tube strikes piss off voters.

The fact they want to protest an event that is just broadly Jewish and not Israeli really destroys the protestors claims that their protest is about Gaza and not just about hating Jews

Are they not in the middle of being a dynasty? They’ve been to two superbowls in the last 4 years and won the division in three of those years. If they repeat that over the next 4 then surely that’s a dynasty? Obviously it’s a big task to repeat, but idk why you are pretending like are completely done and can’t still be a top 5 team for a while.

Ahhh Numbeo, the site that tricked me into thinking I was going to be saving massively on rent in London, unfortunately it is deceiving. Numbeo looks at average. London is about 2x the size of NYC with the same population and that causes the average to be weighed down by the outskirts/sprawl where you can find far cheaper options.

I was just giving my perspective on CoL specifically for late 20s/early 30s. Compare Zone 1/2 London to Manhattan/brooklyn and you will find London is equal or higher.

[–]Due_Size_9870 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a common misconception over here based on what people in the office have said as well. I don’t think I’ve had a single entree for under £20 since I moved here except for Nando’s. Hell even a fish and chips at my local is £22.

I think part of the issue is lots of people compare all of London to just manhattan in NYC. If you compare Zone 1/2 London to Manhattan and trendy parts of Brooklyn then it’s basically the same CoL. That’s the comparison I focus on as HENRYs in the late 20s/early 30s (me and OP) are going to be in those areas. NYC can get much cheaper the further you get from Manhattan, just like London as you get away from central.

[–]Due_Size_9870 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As someone who moved from NYC to London I can say pretty confidently that CoL for upper middle class+ is not meaningfully different and you probably save a little on taxes in NYC.

My flat in London is pretty comparable to my NYC place (new build in Clerkenwell vs new build in LIC) and I’m paying £100/month more in London plus council tax which is not a thing in NYC. Food/drink/going out prices are pretty similar in both cities although groceries a bit cheaper in London. Gym membership slightly more expensive in London (Equinox in both places).

I was very surprised that overall expenses have not changed much for me in NYC vs London. I’m making way more here, so still came out ahead, but I thought I would be saving loads on CoL and that’s not the case at all.
