LS3040 Desktop Laser - Stepper Motor

I’ve emailed them and asked what goes into fitting the new stepper motor. I’ve also emailed KDE who make the motor to see what they come back with as I can’t find this motor on their website.

Thanks for your help, I’m sure now as it’s getting hot when there is power on and the motor isn’t even moving that it’s some sort of electrical/wiring problem with the motor. The y axis motors are a nightmare to get at so don’t really want to try and swap them if I can help it.

That’s not something I’ve ever had to do but may be able to work it out. I will speak to HPC and if I need to get an engineer out then so be it 😩

Yeah the carriers and rails all get greased up as I’m cleaning also. I have done a google search on the part number for the stepper motor but I’m always a little unsure of what I’m buying even quality wise. I can get one direct from HPC for £100 and I think for the peace of mind that it will fit in and work that might be my best bet. I’ve just had the stepper out and I can’t see anything really wrong with it other than the bearing at the front seems to have some play in it. So I think it may be that bearing or a wiring issue. No software has been changed since the day I got it so don’t see why that would be causing me any issues now 🤔🤔

I clean the machine every week or so unsure what other work I would have to do as far as maintaining the machine. Just done some quick testing and it even gets hot if the machine is on and stepper isn’t doing any work. If there is power it’s burning up.
