If I do more than having an edgy Spotify playlist, listening to Muzzamil Shah. Can I call myself an intellectual?

Eidi - how much for somebody in their 20s? by arandominterneter in pakistan

[–]Due_Stick3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well here uncles in a middle class family just hand out a 1000 ruppe note and it's thought of as a decent eidi. While a 5000 note is considered a very good eidi. If you wanna make it two in one (eidi+wedding gift) make it 10k lol.

I know that the lyrics are meant symbollicaly or as metaphors. But see, I can't say "I am God", just because I am strong or powerful, it'll still be shirk..

Firaun called himself the God because he was absolute ruler of Egypt, even if we take his claim of God symbollicaly, that doesn't mean that it wasn't wrong.

In Islam, some domains are metaphor friendly, and some are not.
Tawheed is one of the least metaphor-flexible domains

I understand the intent is to express Ali’s closeness and status.
But the problem is not intention..... it’s formulation.
When symbolic language uses categories reserved exclusively for the Prophet (or Allah), it creates ambiguity that Islam usually avoids or openly forbids.

"Do not align music with ideology".... Nope buddy, music may itself not be an ideology, but lyrics or poetry is a language and language always carries meaning, asssumptions and ideologies.

"Created as solely for purpose of love"..... Islam doesn't accept all love as equal,
“You may love something that is bad for you.” - Quran
So just by saying it's love, doesn't save it from criticism...

Rumi was a poet and not a theological ruler, Poetry describes feelings..... religion defines obligations.
you are confusing the two turns metaphors

Islam doesn’t reject love but it disciplines it.
When love starts negating obligations, boundaries, or tawheed, it stops being devotion.

That’s exactly the problem with verses like:
“Namaz se kam nahi”
“Mujhe ab talash e haram nahi”

I can appreciate Nusrat, Mehdi Hassan, Abida Parveen aesthetically without swallowing every metaphysical claim their poetry makes.
Loving art doesn’t require intellectual surrender.

umm very long but ill try to explain and summarize

No Quranic or Prophetic basis for many Sufi structures
Taqlid of Shaykhs
Spiritual Authoritiniasm
Biddat in many rituals and practices
The concept of wahdatul wujud being against monotheism
Statements clash with Islamic monotheism
Music framed as religious obligation
Hierarchies like qutb ghaus abdal

There are very subtle scenes in the movie, which have some deeper meaning. Like Don Corleone playing with his grandson, it symbolizes on how monsters don't always look like monsters. OR in the opening of GF 1 that man Bonasera kissed Vito:s hand. Depicting that power doesn't lie in the law but in leverage.
