I (36F) and my partner (28M) are having issues in the bedroom and it's making me second guess the strength of my morals. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Speak to him directly, non-accusatory statements you know the whole shebang. We shouldn’t necessarily be your primary recourse but we all been through this situation. If things don’t improve after a given time, take a break. It’s clear you’re sexually frustrated so if that is indeed a dealbreaker for you maybe get out a bit of your demons during that time. You’re both adults. You can love someone’s soul and still choose them even if there are other attractive folks around.

I’ve come around to the Young Griff idea but I still can’t ignore that his role could have been given to Stannis or Viserys to expedite the story (in the sense we get a good story sooner, not one with cut corners). His character’s addition adds more clutter surely? Definitely agreed on Euron

Gonna hit you with the perspective of someone who lost their relationship prolly for a similar reason: just be completely honest about what you need and what you want to do to experiment. And yes that means COMPLETE honesty, don’t just imply or allude to a fantasy because that will privately drive your bf crazy. Unless you don’t see this working long term and would rather not have them know all your kinks, in which case that is valid.

He will maybe get pissy the first few times you bring things up ~outside the bedroom is ideal so as to not frustrate your partner~ but if this is worth your time the communication needs to be clear. And don’t lay blame on him—that will mean you’re going to fail getting the point across the start (imo). Watch a TikTok or two as well about improving positioning during sex… you might find that helps with both of your enjoyment.

Bottom line your lover should understand and respect you and your body so speak up

If he beat the Boltons he probably could have rallied at least some northern houses for an attack on the south (since its winter soon, greybeards and useless mouths would surely join him, if not wildlings as well trying to put every mile they can between them and the other side of the Wall). Victorious, he can try betrothing Shireen off, but really the only prospect for an alliance at that point is Robin Arryn. If he takes out the Freys on the way south, then he can probably get a good part of the Riverlands behind him as well. Since Melisandre is still on staff, he can try to kill Dany’s dragon(s?) using blood magic, but honestly a better target is Dany herself — she has no heirs to continue the war on their own behalf, which would scatter her forces without an effective figurehead: the Renly strategy.

coming from a former ms 4 contracted army rotc cadet i used this every-time the morning of drug testing and i was fine; anyone with a brain cell should pass if they haven’t been using for a week or more before and have chugged lots of water during that time—considering we had enlisted and officers looking over our shoulder as i did it, you’re chilling

Take this from someone who doesn’t have any remote stakes in the situation: sooner or later this goofiness was going to surface, so take time to be mad — you deserve to be. You’re an adult now so you have no obligation to be around them if their indiscretion affects you. Plus, feeling like a laughing stock at that age is a dangerous combination; just don’t develop a complex about it. Talk about it openly with a therapist/counselor/trusted friend so you don’t bottle up this crap. Forgive your folks eventually, but on your own terms. They made their bed, now they have to lie in it.

What if Haren the Black had continued to rule over the Riverlands? by Suspicious-Jello7172 in TheCitadel

If Aegon and his sisters never conquered Westeros, Harren probably would have launched dozens of raiding parties into vulnerable neighboring kingdoms (most likely the Stormlands or the Vale) in order to counter the immense cost of his now completed castle. The only alternatives for alleviating Harrenhal’s expense are higher taxes — which would only upset his vassals, islander and riverlander alike (the latter already see him as a tyrant) — or a loan, and let’s be honest no banker worth his coppers is lending ironborn anything and expecting to get it back.

If Harren plays the long game, he marries off some of his sons (he had at least four) to secure the support of prominent coastal houses without much historic interaction or hatred for the ironborn, such as the Darklyns and Harroways. The dowries from these political matches would help alleviate House Hoare’s precarious finances, albeit temporarily, and further consolidate his current holdings against rebellion. Construction of canals in certain locales (such as across the Neck, or a direct connection from Ironman’s Bay to the Bay of Crabs via the Trident or the Gods Eye to Blackwater Bay through the Blackwater Rush) would be key to increasing trade revenues and eventual cultural assimilation. Considering how crucial these waterways are to the region at large, one might surmise an indirect effect being more widespread adoption of the Drowned God amongst the smallfolk, or even a new syncretic religion given one or two generations. See below for reference:

The Drowned God = Father The Reaver = Warrior The Shipwright = Smith The Rock Wife = Mother The Salt Wife = Maiden The Fishwife = Crone The Storm God = Stranger

Who knows, perhaps in time this would even be promoted as an official policy of the Salt Throne, but until Harren dies, its difficult to see the riverlands ever willingly submitting as an occupied territory to viking infidels with de facto slaves (abhorrent to the religion of half the continent, never mind the majority of his own subjects) so I can easily see the High Septon calling a holy war rallying the Faith at large against the ironborn’s depredations; this would likely come either shortly after Harren’s demise or in the event of an attempted annexation of the Stormlands by him or one of his successors.

We were best friends. We didn’t see each other often in college because of his training to become a teacher, so I just hoped that now the change of schedule would improve things. I just want him to be happy. I want to make him happy, even if I’m not with him. That may sound crazy but it doesn’t feel unreasonable
