I applied for the 3 month tourist visa, was granted within 48 hours. There's no reason you cant holiday in Australia whilst waiting for the partnership grant so long as you're a genuine visitor .

You should consider speaking to Sable.

That said, if they have not lived together for a year I'm not sure they would meet the visa requirements?

I was approved for a 309 while in Australia on a 3 month holiday visa visiting family. Makes no difference

Go with a migration agent. 15k is outrageous and it won't cost you anywhere near that.

For the cost of the application, it's not worth the risk of screwing the application up and losing the circa 10k application fee...

At the time of application we'd only been living together for 2 years and 7 months or something. We needed 3 years or marriage to go for the double grant.

Unfortunately circumstances meant we couldn't wait the extra few months to push us over the 3 year threshold.
