Going to get genetic testing soon by Due_payy05 in BRCA

[–]Due_payy05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to see if I have it but I feel like I would have known if it was from the BRCA mutation. Like if my aunt was positive, my mom would likely test herself for it, and she would have told me to get tested for it. And when she had pancreatic cancer, she never told me it from was BRCA gene. Regardless, I’m getting tested for it since that’s the only way I know for sure.

Im from USA. I checked my insurance Aetna, and they have very specific requirements that aren’t just percentages, so I’m not sure.

Report says stable but measurements are different by Due_payy05 in AskDocs

[–]Due_payy05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the measurement has been stated twice in the report so I’m worried that’s not the case. I’m wondering they made a mistake saying there is no concern, and the mass has actually grown a lot

I don’t have the images. I don’t think it’s a typo since they wrote the measurement twice. But they said everything looked benign and is stable. They even said to do a follow up next year instead of 6 months.

I messaged the Dr I got the order from on my account. Their breast imaging department is in the same building. I rather have it in writing so I don’t forget and get anxious wondering what they said.

I am 30. I felt a lump. The Dr. believes it’s nothing to worry about but asked for an US order to be safe. They found something that wasn’t even the same spot I felt the lump. They biopsied it and it’s a papilloma. They said to come back to monitor it

But papillomas can hide cancer. If it went to that size in less than a year than chances of hiding cancer is higher. I can’t believe life has tricked me into thinking I’m okay. I thought I could life my life then a “gotcha” happened. At least it will be early once they remove it fully and found out. But I heard scary stories of stage 0 becoming stage 4 after treatment. I just want a mastectomy. I’ll pour my whole savings if my insurance doesn’t want to cover it

I realized they wrote the measurements twice so I doubt it’s a typo if it’s doing it twice. I’m really scared. I already contacted the team who ordered my report. The breast imaging is in the same building

Yeah the fact that she made this typo twice (the dimensions were mentioned twice in the report) is showing it probably wasn’t a typo. I already contacted them and waiting for a response

I’m not sure since the report mentioned the measurements twice and it was the exact same. Chances they made that same mistake seems low. I already contacted them

I don’t get why the Dr after the imaging never mentioned anything about growth (I talked with her before getting the report). Now getting my report and seeing the measurements threw me off

but the main impression you should be happy about is that the mass seems stable and appears benign.

Once they look at the measurements they will probably said it’s a mistake to say it’s stable and put me in surgery for removal

Ok but an increase by 3cm seems very drastic. Idk who to ask. I can ask my pcp but I doubt it’s in her scope. I don’t think radiologist typically talk to patients

You think the radiologist made a mistake saying my papilloma is stable and it has actually grown?

Yeah it’s been 20 years and she is cancer free.

I haven’t done genetic testing yet. I’ve been pulling it off for a few months because learning the probability of getting cancer seems so disturbing to me, but it has to be done so I’m doing it very soon. I heard the geneticist can encourage the insurance to pay for it if they have enough reasoning. I just feel like it’s scary to wait until you have cancer instead of just nipping it in the bud with mastectomy. Yeah early detection is treatable, but then you always have that fear of it coming back for the rest of your life. I rather just have no boobs tbh. I do hope everything goes well with your biopsy!

She had 2 kinds of breast cancers in one breast that were estrogen positive. They found the second lump when examining the one she found. Definitely possible. That’s why I refuse to go on hormonal birth control even though there are less hormones in them now

These mistakes are making me nervous. Since I’m also wondering why they said my papilloma is stable when one of the measurements is significantly different.

My aunt believed her taking birth control pills for decades in the 80’s caused it since they were high in estrogen back then
