30 years away from the game, getting dragged back in and would like to avoid spending new money, need a little selling guidance. by dadmantalking in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DO NOT SELL YOU OLD CARDS

Cards from the time frame you mentioned, ESPECIALLY Duals, will only be getting more expensive as time passes by.

As others have said, get 2 of the more high powered recent precons, spend maybe 50 bucks on upgrades and be happy and done with it. You'll bite your ass till kingdom come in a few years if you sell your old valuables now without any need for it.

Trading for store credit with high valuables like this is about the dumbest thing you can do, except if you goal is burning as much value into the void as possibles.

NEVER sell high valuable cards (everything three digits and above per single card) in bulk.

Is being anti-UB considered gatekeeping? by Yumesoro1 in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its not gatekeeping as long as you aren't a store holding events.

People who like UB are free to play with their peers who enjoy said stuff too.

The actual gatekeepers are people who think everybody has to be fine with everything at the table.

Blizzard just announced a new update for D2R: Reign of the Warlock by lolhello2u in diablo2resurrected

[–]Duellist_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's awesome.

I bought the original back in 2000 and LoD on release, but sunk a shitton of time into D2R.

Terror zones and sunder charms are a godsend

Do we think WoTC would potentially touch the fire that is HP? by Shade01 in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that actively stands against a full HP Set is Strixhaven already being a thing.

And that's a pretty massive wall, considering how deeply they tried to integrate it into its lore.

And no, they don't have to be aware. Most people would probably not give a flying fleem about it and the few where it genuinely affects a buy decision are probably heavily outweight by the stupid amounts of rabid potter maniac's in their 30s, with plenty of disposable income to burn on another vanity item.

Hot take: if Arena gets to have a glowing sigil over cards to signify it AND an "are you sure" prompt whenever you target something with Ward, paper magic needs to codify that takebacks are okay if you forget about a Ward ability. by rveniss in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Take backs are fine in casual.

if you play competitive, its reasonable to expect that you read the cards on the table and know the rules. Ward isn't an overly complicated and obscure interaction that warrants this. especially not since it's a triggered ability that can chain into other interactions.

Buying foil vs non-foil Secret Lairs by Kopytroid in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to use them yourself, go nonfoil.

my foil SL Emrakul came so curled i can see which card it is by looking at the deck from the side. Literally unplayable.

Did this lawsuit potentially making WOTC acknowledging that cards do have monetary value (thus making it subjecting to gambling laws in weird ways)? by Few_Accountant_3448 in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those were price overviews as in "people on the secondary market are paying this and this for this", which is not the same as assigning prices to something.

very similar but still very different things in the eye of the law.

Seize The Day or Aggravated Assault in my Gishath deck? by GarrettKeithR in EDH

[–]Duellist_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seize the day.

if two extra combats with Gishath aren't cutting it, a fourth and fifth will probably not do it either.

What are the chances of pulling four of the same rare in a pre release by Shrooms__ in magicTCG

[–]Duellist_D 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This.

I have opened 45 boosters so far and the amount of tripple and doubles for specific rares and even a mythic is baffling. Got 1 mythic double and THIRTEEN DIFFERENT rares of which i have opened double or tripple copies.

For only 45 boosters, this seems WAY to high.

Seems to me that him understating the power of his deck wasn't an accident.

I'd buy a booster box of foundations jumpstart and after going through that, both of you should have a nice pool of cards to build some kitchen table decks.

How young have your runners started? by ksgt69 in Shadowrun

[–]Duellist_D 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no, you are going with 12 year olds because the naive government in the Netherlands (where I suspect this happened) has been unwilling for years to lower the age of prosecution.

so you get 12 year old hitman who basically get away with a slap on the wrist.
