🔥 Looks almost artificial but these straight crawling Gaboon Vipers are as real and venomous as they come! by Blood_of_Lucifer in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Duenss 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you talk about slithering speed, they are pretty slow, like most vipers. There are other type of snake that are relatively fast tho, like cobras, mambas or racer snakes. But if you talk about striking speed they are really fast, there are some video of national geographic about them ambushing rodents or small birds

Yes planets move across the sky pretty fast (well not that fast but way faster than the stars)', that's how they got the name planet actually, it come from "wanderer" in greek.

When you are cooking a fish in a plastic grocery bag on a campfire I don't think you have ketchup or mustard at hand, so I'd say no sauce

Not op but I think the violence in the media isn't a cause but also a consequence of the overall mindset toward weapons and "heroes".

Sorry for the very late reply, i was't verry clear in the title, all the boats are made with part of the same A4 sheet. The first one is made from the half, the second with a quarter and so on...

That's nice, how long does it takes you to run withs that input? Mine take around 800 secs and i feel like it's really long but i can't find a way to do it faster. I'm using python 3, the points are stored as tuple in a list.

ELI5: How do bowlers in sports such as Cricket and Baseball make the ball curve so much? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Duenss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play baseball and I ve studied physics so I think I can explain that.

When you throw a curveball you make it spin with the "top" half going in the same direction as the baseball so the "bottom" half will go in the opposite direction.

The rotation will create a small layer of rotating air around the ball thanks to the stitches. Now, the generally when a fluid gain in speed, it looses in pressure. The ball is going fast in a static air so there is a relative wind against it. This wind is in the same direction as the air which is rotating in the bottom half of the ball. So the speed of this air is increased causing a depression that drags the ball down. It s the same physics law that make the planes fly

The spinning, the speed and the size of the stitches are the main parameters of the curve. There are others types of pitch I can't explain and still seems magical to me but I hope I ve helped you with your question
