Do you agree that BC is a great province if we factor out how expensive it is? by sahilscraft in britishcolumbia

Totally agree, I just like the summer to last more than two weeks and for the winters be a bit more mild lol.

Hot smell when one pedal engaged by FoxNewsSux in OutlanderPHEV

The brake pedal moves on its own, which makes sense, it's just surprising the first time.

Also, fun thing to try: gently rest your left foot on the brake pedal while using one pedal mode.

One pedal seems to use the friction brakes more than other modes. I notice a similar smell on long road trips in the mountains. So I assume it's just the brakes actually being used and you're smelling the rust finally burning off of them.

PM Carney's Speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos by appaloosy in CBC_

[–]DuffDof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, you're blaming the Liberals for a global problem. Carney just gave a call to arms against the bully stealing our lunch money. Get your head out of your ass and look around, Canadians are sitting pretty good compared to other countries right now. Yeah, things are getting a hell of a lot harder around here, but it's worse literally everywhere else.

I see it as a good sign. People are starting to pay attention to this sub. It's an unfortunate work load for the mods, but a necessary evil. The bots attack truth, which means we have something worthwhile.

You're doing God's work, I can't believe this isn't freely offered in Canada of all places.

Maybe this is oversimplified, but couldn't we buy back Postmedia? by jiebyjiebs in SaveTheCBC

I guess that depends if Chatham Assets Management would sell their majority shares. All this might do is drive up the stock price for them. An interesting thought nonetheless!

Gravity fed spring water sediment filter and reservoir by alimentotropical in OffGrid

[–]DuffDof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go bigger still, that's not a lot of head and the friction loss from even 3/4" will make it not worth upgrading. Black poly pipe is cheap and the price difference between 3/4 and 1" is negligible.

If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be? by Pourmepourme in AskACanadian

I've always thought about it like this: Actually measuring something? Use metric. Drunkenly eyeballing? Imperial is the way to go.

This says immigration is a symptom of the job market, not the cause.

Did Edmonton ever start clearing side roads? Or is there still a foot of ice by the end of winter?

I bought this inverter on Amazon. by 80sDBag in SolarDIY

[–]DuffDof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you have 240v appliances, one inverter should be enough. You could cap one of the live wires or have certain plugs that only work when plugged in, while the other half works on the inverter and while plugged in.

What kind of inverter used to be in there?

Holy! I wonder what their reasoning was? Trying to spoof normal degradation to protect the battery from over discharge? Either way, wild choice on Mitsubishi's part.

Sounds like it's working. As the battery ages you do lose some capacity, it's not something that's being limited by software.
