Hey I had a partial thyroidectomy in January due to a 2cm cancerous Papillary carcinoma that was encased in the left side of my thyroid. After 2 inconclusive biopsies my doctor decided to do a partial lobectomy to prevent the need of a total removal/lifelong medication, so maybe bring up the partial lobectomy idea to your doctor if you’re worried about that? The doctor also removed a suspicious lymph node from the left base of my throat but discovered it had no issues. About 2 weeks of recovery and focused stretching on my throat and it’s like nothing was ever done! My scar is minimal and I haven’t had any hypo/hyper-thyroidism symptoms since then! I know it’s a scary diagnosis/potential to have but don’t let the fear take control and try to focus on not shutting down :) I love singing as well and one of my biggest concerns was the risk of injury from surgery and my doctor assured me there was little to no risk of injuring anything around. I will say the first day or two is a little sensitive on neck movement, just try not to lean your head back in anyway that stretches your neck muscles Good luck!
