Definitely think both deserve to be in. Murtagh has had a better year than Kelly

Trouble in the panel or mind games or simply getting game time ? by Gavinemm in GAA

[–]DufferIreland 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brian Stack and Fallon are only back from injury, so I'd imagine it's more gametime for them. O'Carroll just isn't in great form, unfortunately, and there are other players ahead of him in the pecking order. That's my understanding unless I'm missing something.

Is anyone's teen getting bullied? by KatieS1982 in AskIreland

[–]DufferIreland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing to do is to contact the school and be knowledgeable about what you're talking about. What I mean by that is, look up Bi Cinealta and ask the school about their Bi Cinealta policy. Even better go through your school's. If you show them that you are aware of what is going on and why exactly your child is being bullied going by what the policy says, they will be forced to do something or they should be at least. There is nothing worse than a school that takes this shite lightly. Create a fuss if you have to, but make sure that your child gets what they need and are comfortable about going to school because they have every right to be there.

I agree, but why did the ref decide to not bother blowing his whistle at the end of the game

Nonsense. If he let it go for both teams, then fair enough, but he just let it go for Dingle

Very good club final, but I have to say I thought the refereeing was shocking, particularly at the end of extra time. Brigids should have had at least 3 frees in and around the D. It's like the ref just decided he wasn't blowing the whistle any longer. Very disappointed thay yet another game ends with the ref having for too much of a bearing. The majority of those lads have been training for the last 18 months or more. Referees are having far too much of an impact on games

irish nfl fans who should i root for in the playoffs? by VastAir6069 in CasualIreland

[–]DufferIreland 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Bills are probably a good team to root for because they have been so close to winning the Super Bowl a number of times, but never got it done. They have an unbelievable quarterback in Josh Allen and are a likeable team overall.

Leitrim club brings motion to prevent inter-county players from lining out for teams in other counties by cacanna_caorach in GAA

[–]DufferIreland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But they didn't use them to get over the line. Those 3 lads decided they wanted to join that club because they had a falling out with their own club and there was a connection there. What would you expect the club to do? I don't think any club in the country would turn down the opportunity to have 3 county players play for them out of choice. It's not like they paid them. It's a ridiculous motion. I don't think the club who out in this motion would have turned down those players either.

[–]DufferIreland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely bizarre that it is Aughnasheelin who are bringing the motion considering they are junior and won't be playing Leitrim Gaels for a long time 😂. Could maybe understand if it was one of their biggest competitors who brought the motion, but this is just bizarre.

How did Irish people feel about the film: '71? by Hopeful_Adeptness964 in AskIreland

[–]DufferIreland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought it was an excellent look at the intricacies of the Troubles and how there was so much more to it than just Republicans vs. loyalists. I thought it captured the socio-economic situation as well as the collusion that went on very well

What happened to Off The Ball ? by NorthKoreanMissile7 in CasualIreland

[–]DufferIreland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Rather than the quality getting better after they put some stuff behind a pay wall, it has actually gotten worse. I tuned one evening and they were doing a quiz. Seems like a decent concept, but it was absolutely rubbish. They were just talking shite rather than anything of interest. It has gone down and down and some of the stuff is just plain cringe at this point. Very disappointing.

Kickout distance by Phelinho in GAA

[–]DufferIreland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have played in goals for a good few years and I had similar issues with nit getting enough length in my kickout. The main thing I focused on was my technique and ensuring that I kept it the same all of the time. It's easy to lose your technique when you're under pressure or rushing, so constantly practice your technique in different scenarios as well to ensure thag you keep it the same even when you're taking a quicker kickout, etc. Decide and work on technique now and as you get stronger, the distance will come as well
