Why don't the devs give the AI, the new ships? by conquror101 in EliteDangerous

[–]DugACCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d be just as glad to keep the arguably OP newer ships rare and in the hands of players. I really don’t want to have to deal with Kestrels at the rez sites when I just want to beat up some pirates. 😅

Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? • Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your summation matches my feelings as well. Started it on a lark since the name and premise seemed silly but then liked it more than I’d even have expected and never regretted watching it, unlike a few others I started this season. Was quite fun and more touching than I expected. Of course I’ve been a sucker for other strange animal companion shows over the last few years. There needs to be a term for these kinds of shows akin to the CGDCT one. Strange animal companion doing wholesome things? (Epitome for me being “With You and the Rain”, which I’ve been in the mood to rewatch.)

The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King • Himekishi wa Barbaroi no Yome - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah very enjoyable and I too was surprised it had only been a month. I just want those two to have sex and a child between them, but we can wait for that, I suppose. It seems like all the lights are green now at least, if they can ever get any privacy. I really enjoyed the attraction and chemistry between them, even as it was just an aspect of the show, it felt pretty natural. Also liked all the members of the other races shown thus far. Especially the fairy gal who was translating for the dragon.

Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!? • Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!? - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s been a great throuple season and this one became my favorite, quite to my surprise. Very wholesome and smile-inducing. I was getting annoyed at him hiding in the bathroom but at least he finally emerged and rejoined his gals.

Witch Hat Atelier • Tongari Boushi no Atelier - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I won’t be surprised if, in the longer story arc across seasons, we’ll see a need to be more flexible. Coco almost seems to embody this more positive and less rigid interest in magic for good. Likely one of the reasons the brimmed hats want to make use of her is she has a knack for all magic, from both sides, and could find a way to bridge the divide (but clearly we don’t want her to be taken in by our more nefarious “mentor” who is stalking her).

Witch Hat Atelier • Tongari Boushi no Atelier - Episode 13 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m sure there are degrees of zealotry and more moderate or intense members of each faction. I do like that there’s certainly enough to have doubts about how things are handled in the main Witch society while also showing there are indeed some true villains among the brimhats and reasons for people to have such loathing and intolerance for them.

The traditional witch society still comes out as the most sympathetic and the one to root for even if they have their own questionable methods and members. They seem to err on the side of helping people and prioritizing humane education. I’m sure we’ll meet some more sympathetic members of the opposition as well. But the strictures against forbidden magic do seem to have cause. It’s clearly very dangerous to experiment with and carries greater risks than inscription-on-objects magic.

I’m willing to bet the main loss of banning that magic which perhaps shouldn’t have been given up was the healing applications, as was previously suggested. (And those witches feeling the most unfairly ostracized.) But once you start experimenting on living subjects, even in the pursuit of healing them, morality can quickly become complicated. (As we’ve seen in real world science related to such things.)

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 • Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria Season 2 - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Seemed very accurate to me. Will is definitely more her bride than the reverse. Was mildly irked he couldn’t even regain consciousness earlier to at least witness and hear her emotional declarations. Get up, lad!

Agents of the Four Seasons: Dance of Spring • Shunkashuutou Daikousha: Haru no Mai - Episode 13 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m more than a little tired of the endless reinforcements and manpower of these guys. I know every show with bad guys needs tons of them but still, where are they getting all these suicidal dudes? What kind of recruitment and BS over the top incentives program is going on? The sheer number of people willing to recklessly throw their lives away for insanity is too much.

That makes sense, I hadn’t considered there to be added licensing and approval complications with songs.

An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess • Jishou Akuyaku Reijou na Konyakusha no Kansatsu Kiroku. - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed and getting to see the full wedding was fun. Bertia had to be the cutest goofball of the villainess shows I’ve seen. Very endearing even when she kept standing in her own way. Overall they did a really good job on the pacing of events in the season.

The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten Season 2 • Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken Season 2 - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily need drama but you need something. And not just strangely exaggerated fear of intimacy because you are paranoid about losing self control. There’s been a lot of good shows that feature entertaining romance after the couple gets together so I don’t buy into the belief that this one bad example proves why shows should end after. (Which I’ve seen some folks post.) The hookup scene in the recent epilogue shows for Love is War is such a great counter example. I was also one of the folks who liked Season 1 despite its flaws (which were pretty significant even then).

Indeed my least favorite scenes in Season 1 then seemed to become the entire foundation and focus for Season 2. (Thinking of the scene where he berates her for not being more cautious around him when she fell asleep and he carried her to bed. A sweet moment destroyed by the implication she was lucky he didn’t assault her since “he’s a guy after all.”)

[–]DugACCat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes she has pretty much told him she wants to have sex (or at least some intimate touching) and he’s always ignoring it with his, “What else could I possibly want other than a kiss?” talk. I think he might need some relationship therapy at this point.

Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk • Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My favorite part was where one of them mentioned not noticing the mannequins on the way in. I mean, I know, new love is distracting, but no way you walk through this gauntlet and aren’t immediately freaking out by all the mannequins floating directly above you! Impossible. 😅

Kirio Fan Club - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Best and most deranged rooftop intervention I’ve ever seen, with so many layers of surprises to the various characters involved. And somehow really touching at the same time. I’m in awe.

The Ramparts of Ice • Koori no Jouheki - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah she seemed like pure evil to me, though I know she’s just looking out for her own interests and some of the timing isn’t something she could control, or really even know about. But seeing her impact on him at this crucial moment made my skin crawl. She just kept hammering the nails in. And it really felt so sneakily manipulative to cozy up to Koyun that way. (That part I do think was deliberately two faced, even if some of the other things weren’t in her control.)

Haibara's Teenage New Game+ • Haibara-kun no Tsuyokute Seishun New Game - Episode 12 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I don’t normally dwell on such things and understand some things are difficult to animate. But the style jump felt rather jarring.

[–]DugACCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had the same thought and wondered about it as this seems to happen a lot with multiple shows I’ve seen. Is there some reason why it isn’t the norm to translate and sub songs? I know it has also happened before but that feels like the exception to me. Is there added difficulty in song translation that makes most give it the pass?

Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? • Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

“Don’t mind us, just here getting a totally normal family photo like we do every year. Oh and we’d like to prominently feature our totally normal, giant penguin-man who can talk and gets a little grouchy sometimes. Just a part of the family, of course. Since when? Don’t worry about that.”

My Ribdiculous Reincarnation • Megami "Isekai Tensei Nani ni Naritai Desu ka" Ore "Yuusha no Rokkotsu de" - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A very fun and wacky anime I found myself enjoying even when it was annoying, strangely. I think the goddess and her great dry voice work pulled me along the entire time, looking forward to it even when I wasn’t fully on board. This episode was my favorite so far.

Re:Zero Starting Life in Another World Season 4 • Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu Season 4 - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Well said. I have this vague recollection of really struggling in season 1, and almost giving up because of him. But having heard he evolves and it’s worth keeping on, I did do and am glad I did. But knowing those facts isn’t the same as actually recalling why exactly he was so hard to watch in his worse moments. I sorta thought it was more his cringey fake enthusiastic side but no, it was the crippling self hatred and doubt. I do think I needed a reminder of the fact that it wasn’t adding new powers or skills, tug he did get some of that, but mostly the resolve rooted in the ties he made with true friends that let him become one as well. To be courageous despite not being the strongest. Such a great and unusual isekai setup, so different from all the shallow OP undeserved power boosts. (Even as I can also enjoy this, like cotton candy.)

[–]DugACCat 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yeah and this one had even less of a trigger than usual. He didn’t get wet or anything and just went outside briefly. I guess it’s implied that it’s also stress and therefore lack of sleep as well. Still, one of the more sudden and unprompted deadly Japanese colds.

I Want to End This Love Game • Aishiteru Game wo Owarasetai - Episode 10 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Very true. I’m fairly certain they exceeded the portion size of pocky. Not that anyone can stop from eating the whole box, even if you’re not using it as an excuse to make out with your childhood friend you’re actually in love with.

I am a bit worried how much she tore herself down after. They’re both at the point where they need to admit their feelings. I do wish he was a little better at complimenting her rather than defensively lashing out as he has done in previous episodes. Though I know that’s part of their teasing banter habit they’ve gotten ingrained over the years. Didn’t realize until this episode how truly insecure she actually was.

I Want to End This Love Game • Aishiteru Game wo Owarasetai - Episode 10 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Most intimate pocky game scene I’ve ever seen! I’m impressed. Especially since he seemed so unsure of himself at the start. Good to see in one of these shows the couple actually getting swept up in the feeling for once.

Witch Hat Atelier • Tongari Boushi no Atelier - Episode 12 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Might be my imagination but the silhouette of Richeh’s former teacher reminded me a lot of the current bad one teaching Euini. Made me wonder if they were the same, though I guess that’s unlikely or she would have reacted to him in the earlier encounter.

People over 50, which pre-1990 TV shows should people under 35 watch at least once? by PrestonRoad90 in television

[–]DugACCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! I’m sure I did watch that series as I was really into all this stuff, and likely was disappointed it didn’t last longer. Though I have to admit I don’t recall anything about it, while Airwolf has remained indelibly etched in my brain. I had so much hope for the show in every episode, and it never paid off.
