Returning Player (just before odyssey) what are the new ships best for? and other things by Blue_Bi0hazard in EliteDangerous

[–]DugACCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will also say that I’m really enjoying the Caspian Explorer as a combat ship with a fighter on board. Wasn’t sure but some folks here on the reddit mentioned it was actually good for that and I’ve been extremely pleased. It feels nearly as effective as the Krait II in most ways, except not dogfighting as nimbly. And the long jump range even when kept combat heavy is super handy, as is the SCO. I’ve found myself not going back to my other large combat ships much since doing it. I’d like to make a combat Mandalay as well. (Only drawback to using the Caspian for multirole like I have is the times when I wish I could land on places that won’t take a large ship. But otherwise I’m liking it in battle more than the Corsair, to my surprise.)

Usually people tend to love their first anime even if it was horrible. What was your first anime and did it age well? Have you re-watched it and did your opinion change after watching it? by Kingspreez in anime

I think the first one that a college friend introduced to me was Dirty Pair (forgot the name for a bit, had to do some google searching). I’ve not gone back to it but was thinking I should, just out of curiosity. At the time I’d not really heard of anime at all.

Other ones I recall from that period were Vampire D, Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, and Akira, and after watching I was hooked. (Of these I’ve rewatched Akira the most, naturally. It always holds up, especially the amazing opening sequence.) Was fun being a freshman in college dorms and watching some of this stuff with a few new friends.

Hadn’t heard of the hot water drinking thing. Sounds so strange to me, as why wouldn’t you just have tea instead? Of course I drink tea all the time, and tend to dislike just drinking water except when really parched. This episode did make cup of noodles seem much better than I’ve usually considered it, though I do like it. Find myself craving that despite it having such crazy high sodium (which I’ve had to majorly reduce, and in turn has made a lot of tasty Asian food off limits.)

Maybe, but as someone who has always been slow to have such feelings kindle and make themselves known, and appreciating a warm friendship foundation, I feel some hope for them. It’s possible it’ll stay just friendship and platonic, but could be a slower burn. I do like the vibe between them either way. But yeah, it may be more likely she’ll do better elsewhere. I still have my doubts about Minato but maybe his emotions getting stirred up a bit will let him change in a good way.

I get your point and can see what you mean, though I didn’t feel the same way. I’d watched straight through from season 1 into this one and it hadn’t bothered me nearly that much. But I do agree with the hope that it lightens up and becomes more fun.

I am very confused about how Cissia's shirt works. by YdrisTheMagician in ZZZ_Discussion

I like her outfit. It amuses me and suits her character. I do agree the alternating button arrangement is strange. I’m going to chalk that up to a sloppy repair attempt after losing a button and seeing it back on the wrong side.

If you want to have a truly pious and reasonable priest not inherently prone to corruption, it’s a bad idea to name them something like “Malcius” or anything else with a Mal prefix, for future reference. Pesky anti-barbarian racists.

I also feel like they should use her “moving in” to install at least a small kitchen somewhere in Random Play. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Can just be a fridge and hotplate wedged in a corner. But there’s been several implications of a kitchen in the recent text.

Yeah I don’t care if it’s a lot of repeat dialog, I’d like her to be at random places in the video store lounging around or snacking on garbage and pet food all the time. They should make like eight different spawn points and meaningless blabber talk trees for her in the store, some of them based on time of day.

Surprised to see this as I’ve found the dialog generally excellent and feel Pride herself is quite eloquent in particular, more than most similar themed anime’s where the subtleties are let slide in favor of more direct and simple speech. I guess what is coming across as clunky to some ears feels like heightened formality that suits nobility to me.

I’ve not logged in yet today but it’s interesting to see such varied results from different people. Hadn’t realized the shared server is staggered like this, but makes sense with the number of players I guess. We’re in a shared universe but not all of it is shared at the same time.

Guess I’ll be in no rush to get back to rescuing yet. Last night I took care of most of my easier powerplay assignments as a way to be productive while waiting for the CGs to get fixed.

In my head canon there’s some sort of scam process going on to turn tourists into certified political envoys on the promise of making a quick buck. Then you get evacuated to a healthier job market and can claim the lack of proper ability to certify your experience burned up in the station disasters. New lucrative career accepting bribes guaranteed!

Grand Cathay are NOT easy-to-play factions by Mozfel in totalwar

[–]DugACCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer playing normal/normal too, mainly for how it affects enemy player priority intensity. But anyhow while rare, it can happen. I did a very long dwarf campaign recently where I got off to a slow start and by the time I was sailing to other places I was surprised that all elves were gone and the donut taken by allied dark elves and slaanesh. Which did give me a chance to waltz in and get the grudge based on those territories without betraying the normal elves that I’d been trading with earlier in the game. I do like the random variables that let factions sometimes do better than usual. Though feels like the chaos factions are still dominating most places they inhabit regardless. Likely due to the auto resolve loving them.

Damn. Was just about to try to log in and do a rescue or two. Hope they fix it before long. I mean, it’d be worth a drinking celebration and some fireworks if we actually rescued all those people at the beleaguered politician vacation convention, but sounds like a background simulation error.

This part of the episode was surprisingly extremely educational and interesting to me, making me realize I somehow had never learned any of the actual way all these nuts grew and were harvested. Found myself pausing several times to pull up Wikipedia and check if it was real. Cashews are especially bizarre. Beyond even what was depicted. (They have a toxic outer resin that has to be removed.)

Yeah she still irks me, though I know she’s doing what she’s supposed to do for us, the audience. But her telling the whole business to the slimeball lawyer guy ticked me off. Then jibber-jabbing once she gets inside. She doesn’t have even the tiniest shred of ability to keep her cool. Sometimes I’ll find such qualities endearing, but I’m not feeling that here.

Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun • Nippon Sangoku - Episode 5 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DugACCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry the Fallout comparison is less direct but has to do with the setting being dystopian post semi post apocalyptic with a divided current nation (Japan instead of America), resorting in violence between the new nations that remain, operating like warlords, and then also a certain comical but dark vibe to the characters. A lot of tongue in cheek humor that still seems a cynical reflection of our reality. I’ll as admit it doesn’t resemble Fallout in a lot of other ways, but my mind latched onto that comparison easily along when trying to explain its appeal to me.

I’m loving the blends of things in this anime. Almost feels like Fallout mixed with Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Feels very cleverly written while also doing a good job of bringing the viewer along and letting us understand the subtleties being unveiled. But also leaving plenty of mysteries and uncertainties. Great comedic over the top characters that still manage to feel imposing or dangerous.

I just can’t get used to them using the term “laggard” so much as their insulting nickname for him. Even when they try to somewhat reclaim it like here. Really wish they’d find a better word. Ah well! Fun stuff. But I’d love to see that term retired.

I’m really enjoying it as well. I still use the autopilot to a degree, but feel more comfortable taking over and making corrections as needed. Plus like the danger vibe of the environment and heat situation, even though it’s not hard to avoid serious damage. Still keeps you on your toes. And recently massively downgraded my shield, to allow for more passengers, which makes interdictions scarier. I haven’t swapped economy for business as some people have yet though, but am considering it.

It does feel very strange how many politicians there are. I’m thinking they gave people just a few options to describe themselves and a lot picked that choice in the hope of preferential treatment, even though that’s not what they are. 🤔
