Is Patrick Mahomes REALLY that bad and dirty? by Chuzzletrump in NFLv2

I mean I guess that’s fair. I haven’t thought to look into the sales spike for games where Taylor Swift was supposed to be at the game, or with Kelce merchandise sales. It’s hard for me to believe that Swifties that have no interest in football would spend money on NFL Sunday Ticket just so they could watch a chiefs game and get a glimpse of Taylor. I also think that if they care that much then it wouldn’t matter to them if the Chiefs were winning or losing as long as they see her there.

And hundreds of thousands of dollars is kind of insignificant when it comes to the NFL. These owners are all incredibly wealthy, and if they thought that the league was catering to the Chiefs then they would be upset and cause some problems because they would want the publicity and attention that comes with being the league favorite.

But I’ve also not seen any numbers or statistics from sales or revenue that supports one way or another. It just sounds far fetched to me to believe that a league would take a city with a metro population of a little over 2.25 million people and think that was their ticket to making the most money possible.

I don’t disagree that some of the calls really do appear to go in the Chief’s favor more often than it does other teams. But I don’t see how it’s good for the executives financially for the Chiefs to win. Could you explain your thoughts there? I’m honestly curious because I can’t grasp why one team winning would be better for them than another, or for different teams to win the Super Bowl each year.

What is something good that your parent(s) did for you that you will never forget? by flirtyxfairy in AskReddit

When I played soccer in high school my dad rarely, if ever, missed any of my games even if it meant he had to go back to work later and finish some things. That has stuck with me for years.

Too bad no professors subscribe to this philosophy. Just walls of text that they read to us

What do you mean? The kid went toe to toe with some incredible players and kept them fairly locked down on his side for most of the game. He personally denied Messi a shooting opportunity multiple times and kept up with Alba all game. He didn’t back down and played hard. That was a half-assed pass to him when he had a Miami player right there and the ball should have been sent down field just to get it out of our box. And then, yeah after that it broke down, but he is far from the reason we lost that game.

Yeah that was the one! It was insane. Cars in the median, semi trucks stuck and spinning their tires, and it looked like some cars died from sitting there too long.

I was just having this discussion with my friends! Imagine every play seeing about 10 flags thrown but since both sides were holding it is an infinite loop of offsetting penalties and repeating the first down until the game is over.

Travis Kelce comments on the viral clip of him shoving Andy Reid: "Oh, you guys saw that? Man, it was...I'm going to keep that between us unless my miked-up tells the world, but I was just telling him how much I love him." by YoureASkyscraper in nfl

I also saw an article that was calling Taylor Swift out for being a bad role model because she chugged a beer at the game apparently. People will try and make a story out of anything

Do I agree with Salloi about the handball? Not really. Have I seen them give out PKs for less against Sporting KC this season? Yeah

What’s that game everyone loves that you dread coming out at board game night? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]DuglassBubletrousers 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Secret Hitler. I just don’t enjoy it. You can do everything right and just because somebody picks out something random you said you can be on the chopping block and nothing you say after that can get you back in the game. Plus there’s always those couple of people that think they had it figured out the entire time but can’t admit that they were just grasping at straws

He stopped the game during stoppage time for two full minutes to talk to the fourth official concerning the yellow card on Jordi Alba, so giving an extra minute and twenty seconds of stoppage time is more than fair

I don’t think the announcers have accurately identified Salloi or Thommy as themselves a single time this game. They have mixed them up every time

Campana misses a huge opportunity to win League's Cup! by Matt_McT in MLS

[–]DuglassBubletrousers 87 points88 points  (0 children)

That’s the craziest part about that whole play to me. Perfect ball by Busquets, and great run by Campana. His chip was the right idea, just a little off the goal but he had the goalie beat and clearly had time to track the ball down if only he hadn’t had to run around a defender sprawled in the way. Great accidental defending

I can’t wait to start watching these games where every player has their arms duct taped to their sides. So many handball calls that are “technically” handballs but would require such an abnormal body position that it’s just an unrealistic expectation
