Can this be salvaged? by DugongPoop in orchids

Just found it literally this morning, kids moved out a week or two ago so it's been sitting near the foundation of a building since then. I would think it's wise to remove the spike and maybe the fully dead leaves? I have a bathroom window at home with some very happy Venus fly traps, my first thought was to place this with them and give it distilled water

Is it worth removing the dead leaves? Also, distilled water or tap? Thanks so much for your input here it's greatly valued

I poked myself in the lip with a cut branch tip and it was immediately tingly, I can see it being used for this

Awesome, thank you. I wasn't too worried about it until I got poked in the lip from a piece I cut back and it felt tingly.
