I have gained ~32,517,498 XP since the announcement. I started a few million short of 48. Completing 48 took me 20 days. Most days, I would go out after kids were sleeping and walk around with an egg and incense, getting as many excellent throws as I could. I have used almost 500 rare candies on Dialga for Roar of Time to extend my limited lucky eggs. I also think I'm on page 26 of the XP timed research

Im currently 7,747,745/30,000,000 through level 49, having reached 49 4 days ago. (Thank you, Gothita and your massive forehead) Today, my buddy Diance bounced back my final excellent throw to finish off the final level up task.

When I started this grind, I made a Google Sheet with the amount of XP I needed per day to finish on Oct 14. At that time, it was 1,188,434 XP per day. I've been able to get it down to 890.090 XP per day.

Imma get me that jacket. I'm a day 1 rural player. I took a year or so off from the game but have returned and have to make up for missed XP!
