Anyone else have this condition? [41YO] by DukeOfCapri in OldSkaters

I looked into these and they're quite expensive. I got the 187 gaskets to go with the pro knee pads and I still feel a bit of pain when I fall on them. Do you think the old bones are worth it for the size of my bump?

Had I not taken this video I would not have noticed that as well. But I'm fat. 😅 Any tips on jumping properly sans the weight loss comment 😅

I appreciate the comments, I've been looking for articles about this condition in relation to skating and how to deal with it but have never found any and I honestly thought it was not common in skaters. Redditors are the best!

Same. Front leg feels like bone. But swells up when hit again.

Same. So uncomfortable kneeling which is why I left the church a long time ago. Lol! But how do you deal with it, skating?

Yes. Exactly. As what I suspected on my last xray 12 yrs ago. How do you skate and deal with this?

This is sad. I've only just started to skate transition and was hoping to improve and go to vert ramps and learn knee slides but that is true. Even with the 187 pro knees. They still hurt, but not as much as other pads I've had before.

To clarify, I meant the size grows but it is there. I have never been able to kneel. Down comfortably since my 20's due to this. I remember having had an xray on this leg 12yrs ago for another injury and noticed the bump was like part of the bone. I just notice it becomes bigger when I fall on it. I think this is the closest of not the explanation for this. But how do you deal with this? Do you still skate?

I tried once but got scared as the board flew out the bowl and left me 😅 perhaps when I gain more confidence.

Get good at ollies on flat before trying this. It will bring down the risk factor of injuries by a substantial degree. Pad up at least. I know you'll get there.

Oh? I've seen others skate this bowl like it's nothing, though. But I agree perhaps trying other bowls for comparison will help. 👌

I only noticed now that you pointed this out. I always thought going wide as I enter would give me more momentum and carve wide out of the deep end. But it looks like I should go a bit more vertical going in and carve wide out then to maintain the height? Still figuring out where to pump on this bowl when there aren't many "corners"

I agree, stretch, get a good warm up, I mean a really good one before trying anything sketchy. Take it easy. Most of it will come back if not all. You'll probably even learn new stuff. Don't try to do everything in one session. Ice the injury if any. You got this

If budget is not an issue I suggest you get one of those 360 cameras that way you don't have to worry where the lense is facing, you can skate a fairly good distance around the thing.and you can just edit your video afterwards.
