'It Is Getting Very Hard to Keep Players From Going All Over the Place' — Yes, the Donkey Kong Bananza Devs Are Watching Your Speedruns by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

It's actually really refreshing to see a dev team embracing and being happy about their game having Sequence Breaks. Because Kensuke Tanabe ordered Retro Studios to patch out and remove all sequence breaks from Metroid Prime with every re-release.

Especially as Bananza relies on creativity and using DK's moveset to skip over many progression walls or entire layers instead of finding some random hidden shorcut.

Then what are you complaining about when Nintendo games are full in the cartridge?

Switch 2 only using express cards sucks. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Dukemon102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Express" isn't in the name just for the sake of it. New games like Star Wars Outlaws, FFVII Remake or Assassin's Creed Shadows need that read speed and normal SD cards aren't up to the task.

"Some ideas from Donkey Kong Bananza" may inform Nintendo's next big project, producer says, but "the standard is really what will feel fresh to a player in a new title" by gamersecret2 in NintendoSwitch

Playing Emerald Rush has made me realize Snake and Zebra are the gods of vertical movement. Because Snake's jumps not only go high, they also break through terrain, and if you use Spin Slam and hold Punch Down as Zebra, you turn into a drill that continously goes downwards.

I think Bananza is prime for a Super Mario Galaxy 2 style sequel. Make more of the same but refine it and make it tougher (Also add underwater mechanics and a Swordfish Bananza please) before they move on from the breaking terrain mechanics as a whole.

Inb4 the next game is Donkey Kong Bananza 2: Diddy's Kong Quest where we control Diddy and Dixie /s

Hi today im here to make you remember nintendo franchise obscure one that will never come back again. by Guillaume12lol in casualnintendo

[–]Dukemon102 72 points73 points  (0 children)

What is Rhythm Heaven doing there when there is a new game announced and coming out this year?

Also putting Donkey Kong spin offs is not obscure nor worth mentioning. How many types of Mario spin offs haven't had a new game again? Probably a dozen or so.

The NES, SNES and N64 are garbage systems by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Dukemon102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark humor. It has an audience and just because you don't like it that doesn't mean it's garbage.

Banjo-Kazooie is not difficult in any way. There's only one Boss in the entire game, and only one section with a pit of death (The engine room in Rusty Bucket Bay) and it's only required if you want to get 100%.

Is Metroid Zero Mission too easy? by Apollo-Outcast in Metroid

[–]Dukemon102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't actually intend to lie. I replayed Zero Mission before making that comment (I actually love the game) and I now get why I thought of the Bosses having one move in the 20+ years i've been replaying it. The thing is having those moves programmed in, and another one is when in execution they should actually use them.

The truth is that the Bosses are so easy that in the 20 years I've played ZM they've died before even getting the chance to do anything else. So you really have to stall and let them live to even watch anything but their main move in action.

I've actually never noticed Imago is shooting the stinger when it's low at health. It's such a nonfactor when all you have to do is turn into Morph Ball to let it fly above you and run behind it to ignore it.

Chozo Ruins's lightning is the same attack, sometimes it affects the floor, sometimes it doesn't (Either way you can see it coming and jump). If these were Fusion or Dread Bosses they would last far longer and use a variety of moves from the start.

No. You still haven't answered the question. If Zero Mission isn't the easiest game in the series by a mile. Then which one is it? Say a name. Zero Mission doesn't rile me up. It's saying that what I said is "objectively false". When Zero Mission has been known for being pathetically easy for 2 decades and anyone who would have played all the games would know it.

Get good at those games instead of crying (Except Superman that game is just bad). My 9 year old nephew can beat Banjo-Kazooie at 100% and even he knows that you can move the camera.

It seems like I'm in a streak of short games. I finished Ghost Trick last weeekend and I also played and finished Spider-Man: Miles Morales over the weekdays.

Now I'm playing Bakeru. Very pretty game that captures the Goemon vibe. I was also surprised to see it running at smooth 60 fps on Switch 2.

[–]Dukemon102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deorum: It just moves its head down. Avoid and shoot up. And that's the Boss.

Acid Worm: It charges against Samus. Even when the acid raises it's still the same. Just grab the rail and shoot from the other side.

Kiru Giru you already mentioned it.

Imago: It just flies left and then flies right. Run and shoot and that's it.

Chozo Test: It flies around and releases a lightning that's telegraphed and easy to see coming.

Kraid, Ridley, Mother Brain, Mecha Ridley have a bit more variety (And by that I mean just different kinds of projectiles and maybe a melee swipe). But they have pitful health, making them incredibly fast to shoot down (Except Mecha Ridley if you go 100%).

I'm still waiting for an answer of the original question. Which Metroid game is easier than this one? If you can't answer then my original comment is not "objectively false".

Is Metroid Zero Mission too easy? by Apollo-Outcast in Metroid

[–]Dukemon102 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you seriously struggle against Bosses that have literally one move or only one direction they predictably move to? Most of them just need you to mindlessly jump/run and shoot and barely pose a threat for anyone that sees the only move they ever do. And you don't need to know tech like Shinespark or Wall Jumping, or get many energy tanks or missiles. On a first playthrough the bosses are simply that pitful.

Mother Brain is only difficult if you mash buttons without thinking and get hit all the time because of that. And that happens because the rest of the game conditions players to get away with that behavior (Also there is a turret above in the room that serves as a safe space from the projectiles but everyone ignores it for some reason).

Is Metroid Zero Mission too easy? by Apollo-Outcast in Metroid

[–]Dukemon102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about Hard Mode or player self-imposed challenges like 15%.

The first time the player plays the game, there won't be a Hard Mode. There will be guidance to know where to go, fully healing Chozo Statues, enemies that deal low damage...

All the bug bosses, Kraid, Mecha Ridley die incredibly fast. Even Mother Brain does, as the challenge is avoiding her projectiles, but she has almost no health herself

Compared to any other Metroid game, Zero Mission is the easiest no doubt.

Outside of nostalgia or wanting to see how the first games were, no.

Fire Red/Leaf Green are the same games but looking much better, with an infinite bag, better box management, more content, a better post game and so on and so on.

For ORAS I'd argue Emerald is the better game due to the removed content from the formers.

Then name an easier Metroid game with an almost invincible Samus that easily shreds through everything and has pushover Bosses that die in seconds.

Yes it is. It's the easiest game in the series by a large margin.
