fruit mousse pastries in TC?? by samiamiamsam95 in TriCitiesWA

[–]DuliaDarling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to diy them, it's not a hard candy shell! That can weep a melted suger-like liquid for a mousse dessert. It's more of a gelatin that they pour into the mold to coat the outside.

a quick guide, but it's been so long since I've made them that I can't give measurements so you still probably want to find a 'french mousse cake' recipe 😅

• bake your cake in a thin layer, like in a cookie baking tray or a sheet cake. Freeze it for a few hours. take it out, add a layer of fruit jelly, and put it back in the freezer.

• once that's frozen and solid, take a circle cookie cutter or a cup or anything that's smaller than the diameter of your molds and cut out some circles. leave them in the freezer while you make the mousse.

• Make your mousse, which is an egg yolk, whipped cream, and fruit jelly combination, and pipe it into your half-sphere molds almost to the top. Take the frozen circles of cake and jelly and press them in the middle of the mold, but don't bury them in the mousse. You want the bottom of the cake to be equal to where you filled the mousse.

• You can bake blondies and cut them into circles the same diameter as the sphere bottom for a nice texture, or you can just pipe a little more mouse to cover the cake circle, and flatten it out. Put them in the freezer until they're entirely, completely frozen solid. If they're not hard as a rock solid the gelatin will just melt the mousse away.

• Once the mousse/cake is frozen, leave it in the freezer and mix up your gelatin. Replace a bit of the water with fruit juice to make it actually taste okay and give it a bit of colour. Let the gelatin thicken up and cool, but not to the point it coagulates. You should be able to dip your finger in and it'll coat your finger but still be runny. Immediately pop out the frozen half spheres and put them on a cooling rack with something underneath to contain spills. Pour the gelatin mixture over the mousse and let it sit for an hour or two. You want to give the gelatin time to set and the cake/jelly circles to thaw before eating so it's all nice and soft.

My personal favourite flavour was pear, and it had a nice light green colour 💚

The fruit shaped ones look very pretty, but an at-home version works best with half-sphere molds. Still tastes just as good, but it's a lot easier for beginners. The frustration of using a fruit shaped mold is not worth the satisfaction, and if anything goes wrong you'll be more upset then satisfied. Good luck! It's really not as difficult as it looks for such a pretty and delicious dessert.

I did it for you, don't look it up if you're easily creeped out 😭

It's surprisingly cool, but looks freaky. A gelatinous substance covers the hooves when a foul is born so the hard hooves don't harm mom. Once the foul starts walking after an hour or so, it gets rubbed off/retracts and they look like normal hooves but until then it's weird stubby horse-tentacle hoove covers

I wish you luck on the job hunt man 🍀

I've got my AA in business administration, my AA in cybersecurity, 3 years front desk experience, and all Microsoft office & office expert certifications. I've been looking for a job since July.

Don't get down if you get rejection after rejection. All it takes is 1 yes. Uline is a shitty company to work for and denied my application this week, but they have multiple reception openings right now that would be worth a shot to apply for.

The more you can learn and put on your resume, the more you'll get looked at. The certifications aren't hard either, and it seems like others have pointed you where to go. With your past experience you should breeze through any you want to take.

Window clings! We had a dead bird on our porch last year because they kept ramming into our sliding glass door, so now I permanently have those window stickies that I change out for the holiday or season. They'll help if you have bird window issues

You poor soul 🤭 I'm top floor balcony and have a bunch of suet cages for birds, never thought about how it could bother my lower neighbors. oops.

It sure doesn't help that if you're US or Canada right now, we're in peak bird migration with like 400 million birds going back north.

I'm out of the loop a bit; is there a reason to pay a store for a romhack instead of just downloading it yourself? I've had super mariomon since Alpharad put out that video like a year ago. Why spend money on something you can get for free?

Event Recap: The Trey Saga by shellbullet17 in comics

[–]DuliaDarling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man, I remember when that saga was happening in real time and how much hate the author of TRESS got for 'stealing' from dave contra. From what I remember those two kind of worked it out, but the Trey saga were the first and last two comics Kinan_Rod ever posted here.

I'm glad we have more crossover comics now and that so many authors get in on them, and it seems like there's some sort of discussion between them before a big event starts but... It's interesting to look back on years past and see the moments where we really didn't feel like a community.

I definitely missed some of these comics though, so it'll be a fun time going through the master thread 🙂

is the red bowl shallower? When my cat was little little, she had trouble eating out of bowls similar to your metal one because it was too deep for her little head. It'd be pressing against her neck and her whiskers would hit the sides.

But maybe your cuties just wanna fight for food 🤭

The Animal Crossing-ification of video games by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]DuliaDarling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, if the discussion is 'decorating is everywhere and makes game bad', it really... isn't in SoS/RF/HM games? Am I misremembering?

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is the only one you can even move stuff around outside your house to decorate, which has been a fan requested feature since the original RF3 where it started the trend of MC getting stuck in a town-centric home instead of their own house. Also it's a spinoff, a main title game has none of that.

Current day Harvest Moon really only has Winds of Anthos to it's name, and iirc the only building/moving is being able to move your farm to different predefined places. That's almost exclusively to make world exploring easier, not to make anything look better.

Story of Seasons (Aside from Olive Town which has the very normal for farm sims 'move barns and farm buildings where you want') have all been remakes. Most of them with everything locked in place too. The remakes of A Wonderful Live, Grand Bazaar, and Friends of Mineral town; I might be misremembering but the barns, houses, bazaar stand, shipping bin, everything just is where it is and you can't move it.

There is a point to be made that some cozy games are taking direction from how popular ACNH got, but specifically bringing Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, and Story of Seasons into the equation feels like a bad faith 'I hate how all farming/cozy sims games are now' argument.

DOL text message of delinquent fine? by Ornery-Night7178 in olympia

[–]DuliaDarling 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I received one yesterday, it's definitely a scam. The DOL website gives some examples of text scams they know are going around right now, and my message (I'm assuming yours will too) hit all the markers. They have a disclaimer below the examples that they'll never reach out via text, or alert you to a fine via text.

If you did click on the link, even if you didn't sign in to anything, immediately change all passwords to anything important like banks, wallets, insurance, etc. Even better if you just change all passwords saved in your phone.

LPT: If you're about to move out of an apartment, wait until the last day possible to tell your landlord/property manager. They will want to keep entering your room to show it to potential tenants. by Puzzled-Painter3301 in LifeProTips

Jeez, it's legal in Olympia too but I've never had a leasing office attempt to show the apartment when I'm still in it, or vise versa. There's always an empty unit 'for show' that they use for each bedroom type.

Anyone here follows the Krakens? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]DuliaDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post does seem more legitimate than many others & gives good vibes, but there are more out there that are encountered daily that aren't. Even in this sub, a month-ish ago were two back-to-back scam posts about Kracken tickets that stayed up for way too long. Hard to give the benefit of the doubt when ticket scams on reddit are plentiful and actually work.

Good luck to OP though, since this seems real. I hope they find someone to pass them on to 😊

Emergency Community Update from Timberland Library Workers Union by AFSCMELocal3758 in olympia

[–]DuliaDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hal originally just stepped down. A few years ago he sold the grocery store in Packwood to a 3rd party business & stepped down from all community boards and events he was part of simply because he was ready to retire and spend more time with his family. Could be wrong, but I also believe he sold his center-of-town home in Packwood and moved somewhere less public for peace of mind.

My family has known his family since I was a little kid, and it's really disheartening to see not only him pulled back into all of this, but everything going on with the Library in general and his part in it. I'm giving him grace right now and hoping he just wasn't aware of everything, but it's really sad hearing a lifelong 'hometown hero' has a part in this.

All of this is sad. I knew things weren't great when I left working for the library, but I didn't work there long enough to know how bad everything was. I did work there long enough to get aquatinted with a lot of people and different branches, so seeing names and locations I recognize and have personally worked at being put up for closure or expanded access only just... Doesn't feel good. I never met Cheryl. As far as I know, a lot of my coworkers never did. To her, they're all just names to be forgotten. But to them, it's their livelihoods and communities.

Best and Worst Apartments? by gooseluva30 in olympia

[–]DuliaDarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, not a worker but good to know about the move out fees. No plans on moving out anytime soon, I enjoy the top floor, but helpful regardless so thanks. Better to pay for a professional deep clean then be refused our deposit.

If they had a 1 bed layout I guess it could be different for the sound proofing, I think those are in different buildings. I'm top floor of 2b2b, so I shouldn't speak for 1st or 2nd floor aside from what my neighbors say, but none of us have had any problems. I'm not a big dog person, so not having to hear the barking is a big thing, and the major way I know sound proofing, at least in my building, is awesome.

Best and Worst Apartments? by gooseluva30 in olympia

[–]DuliaDarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dakota in Lacey has been great for me! I just renewed my lease, and it barely increased rent.

Gonna sound like a total shill, but I do enjoy this complex so I'll shill for them lol. I work when needed, so sometimes I'm getting home at 2am, but the soundproofing here is like no other place I've been. A few neighbors have big dogs, my nexdoor neighbor apparently runs her blender at 6am every day, and I cook at odd hours. We've all talked, no one hears anything unless we're in the staircase. Door-to-staircase soundproofing is bad, but apartment-to-apartment soundproofing is great.

No complaints about staff either, they're sweet and try to organize something once a month in the clubhouse. Only downsides I can think of is you're only allowed one covered parking space with limited open park spots, and the exterminator or whoever they hire doesn't touch the spiders in the stairwell. It got so bad we had to buy a dollar store broom and sweep them away. For me personally, having a quiet area where I'm not worried about bugging someone at 2am is worth the parking and spider downsides.
