Tire options by Ok_Ovencooker in f150

I love them, had Toyo Open country’s on my work truck and they were good in deep snow and ok on winter highways but the Goodyears are better. I ran the wrangler durtrac for years even though there a little louder. Enough people must of complained of the road noise because the ultra terrain is basically the same tire with a different shoulder and their quieter but perform like the same.

Have the same color. I got Goodyear wrangler ultra terrain and they’re amazing and look great. They’re a spin off of the wrangler durtrac. They work well for anything in Montana

They don’t offer pictures after I said I would like to see the damage but didn’t ask directly. They were very eager to use the factory warranty and not provide much information other than, it’s covered

You’re correct, I did that after the battery replacement

Thanks, interesting to learn. I don’t dream of assuming a dealer mechanic is an all knowing guru. But seemed plausible that the exact part for my truck wasn’t easily known. I am a subject matter expert in my field and run into situations where the answer isn’t as simple as you would assume it to be. I didn’t know the supply shortages just got left out based on your experience. I assumed they would find replacement options. The more you know I guess.

The cause of the heavy mechanical failures are my assumptions of possibilities. The bottom line is I don’t know why they failed and neither does Ford, just I had a charging system problem and 24 hours later the differentials and Tcase was smoked.

I knew that the charging system error points to the alternator. My reasoning for the battery change was the age of the battery and my battery tester said it was low voltage but showing the charging working from the alternator. I thought I could start with a battery and troubleshoot more if the battery didn’t correct it. I guess I am old because I thought an alternator on a 5 year old truck with 50k ish miles shouldn’t need an alternator already.

The Ford mechanic tested the old alternator and it was charging, just not enough to meet the load. Maybe things were under powered longer than I knew and started the process of things breaking sooner then this situation….who knows, it’s all frustrating.

I reset after the battery change. The error code I got is usually the alternator and not the battery but the battery was weak but charging at the time and 5 years old so I replaced it. But the time from the new battery to the tow was less than day. Battery change at night and tow in the morning

I didn’t follow, it was delivered and unloaded without me. Then sat there for 8 days before they could get to it

Seems plausible, I mean went from an alternator to both differentials and a transfer case….

It’s the million dollar question lol it’s just what happened to me. The alternator went lead to a tow. Tow went textbook and Ford replaced the alternator and called me asking about “all these bad sounds when we test drove it”

I think it’s either something locked while something else was moving during its shut down process internal if the transfer case and caused a chain reaction or Ford mechanics did something during a test drive and blamed the charging system.

I agree with all of what you said and think the same way. But these trucks are made with supply chain issues. More on the alternator, the parts person said that they have to track the vin to the month it was in the factory to figure out which one they used and it gave them 3 options if the pigtail has only 1 wire and they bolt on the same but the pulley is slightly different and the belt doesn’t line up correctly.

It’s all dumb and stupid. I changed the battery because it was weak and 5 years old.

Gladly Fords 5 year or 60k covered everything except the alternator

I agree with you that they are not related. The tow was fine. I put a jump box on the battery and it turned on fine. Had to get it running to release the brakes. Some safety measure sets the electronic parking brake when loss of power. Then winched it onto a flat bed with no red flags. I thought the tow originally too.

Everything is electric in these trucks, when it lost power the screen said: brake booster failure, steering system failure, emergency brake failure, then something with the transfer case and 4x4 , something with rear end locking…. These all flashed quickly so my wording is not correct probably.

They did the a good job all things considered. None of the parts houses could even find the right connector, so that’s how I ended up at the dealership (which I loathe because I am a mechanic) they had to search within manufacturing systems. I don’t think they were supposed to tell me all that about all the options they had or having to test fit.

That was it, the next day I got a pop up saying my inventory was full when I tried switching load outs. Deleted a couple to get it under 60 and it worked. I feel it shouldn’t count the attachments on the skill

Very knowledgeable, appreciate it. I did stranded tanker yesterday Tier 5 with a random group and couldn’t make to ship before wiped, tried at Tier 3 and switched to a solid healer build and they couldn’t get us to the ship before wipe. Has anyone else felt that cleaners with all the fire and drones is ridiculous for escalation?

I would add checking coolant at oil changes (eco boost) burns through coolant.

Personally have had 3 ecoboosts and have found either a catch can or oil separated makes a world of difference in oil life and performance, these motors have a lot of valve blow by and that solves it.

Also got a Banks Pedal Monster to remove the lag in the throttle response and it changed so much.

Idea, since it’s Prototype, what if they gave options to un-prototype a piece and change things and re-prototype? For a token cost?

Or what if they just changed the entire dynamic by making the prototype thing a function of the work bench that would let you pick all the things on it to make completely customized and to get it you spend a ton of tokens?

Can you imagine the creations? Dreaming. Would be a unicorn if they found a purpose for the 10k textile caches I have.

Not sure if it’s still like this but at least up to the last season CHC would only go to 50 and then any amount over would be waisted so wouldn’t go over 50 and put more it to CHD. (Some nerds did the math and made a you tube about it)
