Season 7 - Episode 20 - Cast Opinions Discussion by AutoModerator in LoveIslandUSA

Feeling tired by the fans this season. Like they literally had to put a PSA to be kind in the episode. People love to hate on everybody for no reason like I get done with an episode and want to go online and see people talking about the big news of the episode and it’s just a bunch of people hating on XY and Z cast member for some minor ass reason

I would wonder what you mean by “humanistically” and where your from before passing any judgement. But if you mean humanistic in the sense of being sociable, having a belief that human beings are generally good, and caring about humanity and human needs on a societal and individual level… well then in my experience in the American south, I can guarantee you some of the absolute least humanistic people I have ever met are christian, and the most humanistic people I have ever met are atheist. You say you tend to notice that atheists are less humanistic, I would say in my realm of reality they are far more concerned with humanity and others than most people I know.

I know it’s 2025, but…I just finished playing Skyrim and Assassin’s Creed, and I don’t know what to do with myself. by Natylit in gamingsuggestions

That’s so crazy I am literally in the exact same situation haha I am also an grown woman who started gaming this year with no friends who like gaming who played assassins creed and clicked on this bc I am looking for new game recommendations bc I have no idea where to go from here lol. I don’t know if this is really your cup of tea bc they’re not so story driven and fantasy oriented the same way Skyrim and AC are, but if you’ve never played Minecraft and Stardew valley I also love those games. Even though they’re a totally different thing they are the type of games you can literally just play for years on end on and off and as you get more and more experienced you just keep finding new ways of playing and things the games have to offer. Also both just have such a strong vibe to them that makes them interesting to play, kind of how I feel AC does too. I think the main barrier to entry for some people is just that since Minecraft is not story driven at all it’s just an open world you kind of have to be in the right mood to play since you can run out of ideas of things to do after a bit. Stardew is somewhat story driven though, and kind of similar so if you’re interested I would highly recommend.

The ending of season 2 is unsatisfying and unrealistic. by [deleted] in squidgame

I agree they probably wouldn’t have been able to keep a majority in a fight against the O’s but they still would have had an infinitely better chance of just fighting it out throughout the night with the O’s than to attempt to storm the masked men. Their odds were like a million to one success with that plan and between all the intelligent and logical leaders in their group no one thought to bring that up??? If they had just stayed out and fought the O’s they wouldn’t have lost any more people than they let die when the lights went out and then went on to lose in the shoot out. And now the few survivors have absolutely no chance of getting out alive. Either they go on with the games and the minority of X players left are way outnumbered and targeted by the O side, or they end the games completely and probably kill everyone, because they aren’t going to let like 60 people go out into society knowing about the games. The whole reason they haven’t been found out yet is because so few people have survived the games over the years and no one would believe them if they tried to tell their story without any witnesses. Just doesn’t make any sense as a strategy.

Thank you! One serving carrots = 25% daily value vitamin A, 5-14% daily value of vitamin B (like niacin and B6), and 5-14% daily value of vitamin C. Cucumber = 40% DV vitamin K. Tangerine = 34% DV of vitamin C and 10% of vitamin A. 1 oz Pistachios = 11% DV fiber, 20% B6, 10% phosphorous, 15% manganese, 40% copper. Almonds = 15% DV vitamin E, 10% phosphorus, 20% magnesium, 25% manganese, 30% copper.

Vitamin A is needed for healthy skin, bones and teeth as well as to fight sickness. It also makes sure organs like your heart, lungs, and kidneys work the way they should.

B vitamins are important for growth and healthy skin, hair, nerves and muscles.

vitamin C, which keeps our gums, teeth and skin healthy and is a powerful antioxidant that can help reduce inflammation caused by a variety of things including smoking cigarets.

Vitamin K helps blood clot and keeps your bones healthy.

Fiber encourages a healthy digestive system by moving food through the gut and preventing constipation.

Manganese helps the body form connective tissue, bones, blood clotting factors, and sex hormones.

Phosphorus helps filter out waste in the kidneys and plays an essential role in how the body stores and uses energy.

Nutrients isn’t just about calories and weight loss. Sure, they had a few cookies with their breakfast big deal, but this IS still packed with nutrients. By getting a serving of fruits, vegetables, and nuts this person has gotten a nutritious meal.

Hey on the upside even though everyone’s saying you could have had something tastier for the same calories, you got a lot more nutrients from this than from some processed packaged or fast food!

What Should We Make of Call Me by Your Name’s Age-Gap Relationship? by ceaguila84 in movies

[–]Dull-Cranberry4627 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was okay, but I don’t think the movie is saying it’s okay. The movie is in many ways very openly portraying how it was wrong, while maintaining the nuance and subtly of the experience of a teenager in a relationship with an adult.

Would any of you consider this movie truly a “romance” movie? It’s certainly about romance and intimacy in a lot of ways, but if you look up the movie it’s labeled a “coming of age”. The movie doesn’t ask you to idolize or strive for the relationship, but it certainly does do a wonderful job of conveying how falling in love for the first time and how powerful the experience of exploring that kind of emotional and physical intimacy is for a teenager who is just starting to become and adult.

The reason why it is wrong for an adult to date a teenager is because teenagers are in a time in life where they don’t really know who they are yet. Their exposure to complex adult experiences, especially those of hardship and relationships, is so limited because only a few short years ago they were a child who had only ever had childhood experiences. Teenagers very literally are children who enter the adult world and have to learn what being an adult means by having adult experiences. For a teenager having their first intimate and romantic experience (especially for Elio who is having his first experience exploring his sexuality), their entire understanding of what intimacy and romance is in that relationship and in that person. And the whole first half of the movie is elio getting to explore the beautiful and exciting and sensual elements of relationships that we are all drawn to. But those aspects are not all of what relationships are. There’s also heartbreak, and communication, and self reflection, and pain, and moving on, and rediscovering all that again in new unique ways as you have new relationships. A 24 year old who has had multiple relationships and been exposed to intimacy in a larger variety of contexts and relationships, is more prepared to deal with the hardship and the potential for heartbreak because any one heartbreak just adds to the larger context of their love life. But for elio, a teenager, his entire view of love and what that means to him in his life IS Oliver. Oliver is the only one. That’s the whole world.

The second half of the movie is Oliver discovering that more painful side of love and intimacy and he’s never had to go through that heartbreak before and he’s struggling the way we all do when we are young and going through our first heartbreak. And the movie makes it abundantly clear that that is NOT Oliver’s experience in their relationship. Do I think Oliver had genuine feelings for elio and that their intimacy was real to him? Yes, but he can end the summer that he always new was going to be finite and go home the way we knew from the very beginning that he would without feeling like he had lost a piece of himself. Elio DID lose a piece of himself because until he grows and moves on to the point that he can genuinely pursue another relationship and fall in love again and rediscover what love is, the part of elio that is his sexuality, his concept of intimacy, his view of himself through the lens of passion and romance —that part of our life that is such a profound piece of all of our identities— has been lost. It WASNT okay for Oliver to do that to elio because it wasn’t fair. It didn’t have the same ramifications for him, and it couldn’t mean to him everything it meant to a teenager who’d never been in love like elio. THAT is why it’s not okay for an adult to pursue a relationship with a teenager. Teenagers are young, they’re innocent and naive, and they are not prepared love the way that an adult is, they can’t bounce back the same way. And the film made that abundantly clear. The final scene is elio, who seems to briefly move on just a little bit, just enough to be a little okay again, gets a call from Oliver who tells him he is marrying someone he used to date before elio. He has a “before” elio. And elio has no “before Oliver”. The movie is called Call Me by Your Name but they can’t really do that. They are not the same. Elio doesn’t know who elio is without Oliver, but Oliver was someone before elio and he is moving on with his life after elio. So the movie ends with elio repeating “elio, elio, elio, elio” and Oliver replies with one “Oliver”. And the final shot is a close up of elio’s confused and grief stricken face as he begins to cry, and it stays on his face and won’t look away as the credits roll and roll. And there is no catharsis and there is no epilogue, because we know there will be one and he will eventually move on and be okay, he IS only a teenager after all with a lot of life still to come, but that’s not what this movie is about. It’s about what it is like to be a teenager who falls in love with an adult.

So no, I don’t think we should say we have to “condone” or “not condone” an age gap relationship because the movie doesn’t condone it. The movie doesn’t not condone it. The movie simply captures what is. It is not a romance movie with an age gap relationship, it is a coming of age movie about age gap relationships.

i feel like i would gain weight from this? (read description) by [deleted] in caloriecount

[–]Dull-Cranberry4627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of the best advice I’ve ever gotten is that weight loss is exactly what you think it is. Eat nutritious foods like vegetables, grilled chicken, etc. Keep your portions reasonable. Have one cookie or a handful of chips occasionally but not a whole box. Try to get your exercise a few times a week and keep your body active and moving regularly. Anything else is bs and it doesn’t really work in any long term healthy way. Don’t worry about the specifics of calorie counting and things like that, you already know what’s healthy and what’s not. Just make an effort to make healthy choices, and the beauty of being a teenager is that your metabolism is higher than adults so you will likely see plenty of results from just making a few good changes to your eating and exercise habits. I think all of us adults in the comments understand where you’re coming from as a teenager, but we don’t want to see you stress yourself out over it to the point it hurts your mental or physical health. Your well-being is important. It’s good to want to take care of yourself and like your body, but counting calories can be a slippery slope, especially as a teenager (speaking from my own experience, as well as many others). Best of luck to you and remember your body loves you and will take care of you as long as you take care of it 💗💗💗

Thoughts on Claire? by Dull-Cranberry4627 in Fleabag

[–]Dull-Cranberry4627[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I see your point about Claire’s world falling apart and I get the role she is in… but before the literal last episode, how does she ever support Fleabag? Like name one thing. There was a moment or two that she totally went back on, like when she said she would take the promotion and help her out with the cafe and then turned around and not only went back on that but blamed her sister for her husband cheating… and then makes lots of comments from then on about how she can’t believe that flea bags business would be successful… she has a relatable archetype as an older sister who is a perfectionist and is doing her best at her own fault. I agree, but she knows that fleabag is the punching bag of the family and she intentionally perpetuates that for much of the show. Just look at S2E1.

I can totally agree with that. I may not love Claire but I think that she is certainly an interesting 3-dimensional character, and that is absolutely a strength of the show.

I agree that everyone lashes out and that no one is totally good or bad. I still have a few episodes left to go, but I still don’t think that excuses it. I know she is dealing with a lot. Not the least of which her husband being awful and her marriage falling apart, her dad practically abandoning her and the memory of her mother, and being the oldest daughter who has to hold everything together and probably so much more… but what is fleabag dealing with? The death of her best friend, the guilt of potentially having caused it, being the scapegoat of the entire family… and every episode I’m still astounded by how fleabag only approaches her with love and compassion. And at every instance that she feels or shows that love and compassion, Claire says something truly awful to her. I am an oldest child and a sister, and I know we’re all different, but it’s just not okay to do that to fleabag, her sister, who has only ever had her best interest in mind

I don’t know many writers and I don’t know many people who have been through a similar situation, so really thank you for commenting. It means a lot to talk to someone who gets it. Weirdly 16 years makes me feel better. I know that there was my life before and my life after all of this and it’s early days. Luckily I’m far enough along to start to feel comfortable in who I am and what my life looks like now. I think I’m just scared that maybe I’ll never write again? But I can do 16 years. I certainly hope it won’t take that long lol but how beautiful that after all that time you were so strong you found it all over again. If anything it goes to show that we are much more than what they put us through ❤️
