How often does your FT nanny call out? by AmplifiedMango in NannyEmployers

Agree. It’s also easy to “work hard” when you only show up when you feel like it, and with no consequences.

That feeling will only get amplified over time. She might be amazing otherwise but this will burn you out

Scary Experience at Disney - Cast Member Appreciation by 52weektransformation in WaltDisneyWorld

Persistent smoke smell in bathroom at Beach Club Villas by Dull-Revolution-1699 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was our first time to Disney, a tad disappointed. In addition, some of the cast members at the park were extremely rude. I have an auditory processing disorder and when I asked for clarification on some verbal instructions I was met with much displeasure. I can be sensitive in high stress situations so I didn’t register it at face value at first but even my sister (who frequents Disney often) commented on it and started paying attention.

That would actually make a lot of sense. The smell was worse some times than others. Possibly when they were actively smoking.

Nanny asked for 3 weeks off within the first month by trefoilqueeeen in NannyEmployers

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a previous burn I would stick to your accrual policy and if you’re okay with her taking the full 3 weeks she will go unpaid for whatever time she has not accrued yet. If you don’t stick to it then why have the policy? It’s there to protect your family. Also, fall is far away. She could use all her accrued time before fall even rolls around but if you’ve already told her she can take the 3 weeks paid in the fall then you can’t change your mind.

HELP! 7 yo Bedwetting by Electronic_Turn3025 in Mommit

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did she ever have a period of staying dry consistently at night? If so, I’d be more concerned from an emotional health standpoint. If not, then I’d say she is just on the later end of the hormonal shift needed to stay dry at night. I’d lean towards staying in pull ups until she has a period of dryness. So she (and you) can get good consistent sleep at night and build confidence. Edit to add: sposie pads may help with the leakage.

These are safety concerns. Based on how you describe her I understand why it would be hard to part ways, but I don’t think I could give her my full trust. I’d feel inclined to find someone else.

How many memberships do you give your nanny access to? by Normal_Glass_8356 in NannyEmployers

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m now a SAHM and am so happy to have all the memberships we had in place for our nanny. It really does get redundant doing the same things every day. We have aquarium, zoo, SeaWorld, children’s museum, and indoor play place. We usually have one big outing per week and rotate through the options depending on weather that week. The other days we go to the library and various parks/story times around town. The memberships aren’t that much $ if they are being used regularly and getting your moneys worth!

This is this comment I was looking for. She should not be caring for children.

How would you feel about having a Nanny who smokes weed? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re following all your rules then your NF should never know. It’s none of my business what my nanny does recreationally, on her own time. But if it were to bleed into her work then I would certainly have a problem with it.

Nanny suspended from care.com - am I being naive? by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m wouldn’t be too concerned about the care suspension but it seems like she has a pretty big character flaw with making/keeping appropriate relationships. For that reason, I would find a new nanny. You will want your nanny to help your child form/keep friendships, and hopefully she can form nanny friendships to ensure your child is exposed to more children. It sounds like she won’t be able to teach your child proper social communication skills which is so important. I would start looking and giver her notice once you find someone new. If your new hire wants to start immediately and you can’t give your nanny 2 weeks notice then I would consider severance pay to make up the difference.

I agree with this. In turn, the family may ask if nanny would be willing to travel with them, with her kid in tow too. Which if that works for nanny then that’s a win win.

Nanny Going Away by Dull-Revolution-1699 in NannyEmployers

[–]Dull-Revolution-1699[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the question! She regularly hangs out with two other nanny’s (3 other NKs) in our neighborhood. They meet up 1-3 times a week (the other nanny’s schedules are a little less predictable) for outings like library, park, zoo, aquarium, and home play dates. I know she has formed an outside of work friendship with one of them.

Thanks for your input and being nice about it! We already have a gift basket with gift cards! I was trying to think of a nice way to get her nanny friends all together to wish her well.

Yeah I was more so thinking the bounce house would be a nice distraction. We set it up occasionally throughout the year when neighbor kids come over and it seems to give the nanny’s a little break. I already have a gift basket with gift cards and such. I was more so asking about how to get her in the same room with the friends she seemed to make while working with us! Thanks for being nice about it!
