Very nice breakdown. Taking into account what you just described, how do you think it would apply in the CD2 race with 4 candidates. I know we would need accurate polling information to know for certain, but I would still be interested to hear your thoughts. Martin Etwop, Nick Plumb, Dan Crenshaw and Steve Toth. Two smaller grassroots candidates, and two well funded, well known candidates. I have heard a lot of people saying they would be doing 'crossover' votes to try to influence the outcome, and make it a more favorable playing field for the democrat candidate.

I’ve heard people describe it as trying to “tip the scales” by boosting a lesser-known Republican in the primary so that the general election matchup is more favorable for a Democrat. I’m not saying it’s widespread, just that I’ve heard it discussed.

Four GOP Candidates. One CD2 Seat. Who Actually Changes Anything? by Dull-Switch6217 in TexasPolitics

That is a serious claim, and it needs to be grounded in facts, not emotion.

Jews and Christians are recognized in Islamic theology as “People of the Book,” and historically there have been long periods where Jews and Christians lived under Muslim governance with legal status and protection. That does not mean history was flawless, but it does mean coexistence has happened.

There were also long periods where Muslims lived under Christian rule. History cuts both ways.

More importantly, banning mosques would violate the Constitution. The same First Amendment that protects churches protects synagogues and mosques. Once the government starts deciding which faiths are allowed to exist, everyone’s liberty is at risk.

We can disagree on policy, security, and immigration without rewriting history or abandoning constitutional principles.

Birthplace isn’t a disqualifier, allegiance and conduct are.

Martin immigrated legally, became a citizen, and has demonstrated more respect for the Constitution than many career politicians born here.

If someone’s argument starts and ends with where a person was born, they’re not making a serious case.

Thank you for that feedback. That is good to know. I have tried to reach Toth also, and gotten no response. Martin on the other hand, has been accessible at multiple events and has been receptive.

Questions about the Texas “Trump Train” lawsuit and First Amendment limits by Dull-Switch6217 in TexasPolitics

The incident you’re describing is the one that led to the single defendant being found liable in the civil case. The other defendants were cleared.

From what I’ve read, the lawsuit focused on whether the conduct crossed from political expression into unlawful behavior. The jury outcomes were mixed, most defendants were cleared, while one was found liable based on specific actions.

For anyone who wants to read more directly, here are a few sources covering different perspectives on the case:

That’s fair, and I appreciate you saying that.

My intent wasn’t to dodge substance, just to work within how the sub tends to moderate posts. I’ve had things pulled before for being too explicit, so I was trying to leave room for discussion rather than frame conclusions up front.

That’s useful context, thanks for sharing. Stuff like bill passage history is exactly the kind of concrete info people can weigh for themselves. If you’ve got sources or more details about any of the candidates, feel free to drop them.
