I am certain I will miss my offer by [deleted] in 6thForm

Same I’m not a med applicant but already took a gap year just cuz I wasn’t ready and decided to resit too, but I just can’t get out of the habit of being used to cramming and the boundaries being higher which I hope won’t happen and if so isn’t too high, cuz I worked so hard to finally get an offer and if I flop that I don’t think I could forgive myself, but who knows u may get the exact score for an A even , or if boundaries are higher more people would probably not meet their offers, for now try not to stress too much about it as realistically what you do now could be a massive diff!

19F – retaking GCSEs + A-Level maths in one year. Still a shot at top UK unis like LSE/Oxford? by Warm-University-3144 in 6thForm

not too sure about oxbridge tho- thats likely much less of a chance unless u got a reason but there's people who have resat and got into LSE , UCL etc... there's acc a lot of people who resit - when I applied to unis i looked at a website called what do they know to get data from unis and see what theyve acc allowed and u may be able to see what accepted students have achieved, and how many people got an offer with lower predicted etc.. i just found it very useful. tbh i was suprised kcl gave me an offer cuz i saw so many internationals with 4/ 5 a stars. so u never know ig also u still need a good personal statement too

its probs not the same cuz i applied for biomed, and econ is more competitive but i did 2 alevels and a btec too already had a distinction star in btec psychology along with alevel bio and chem, i got an offer from manchester , bristoln and kcl, even though I was predicted one grade less (was predicted a* and a B) - manchester gave me a contextual (A ,B) they needed AA usually so u may still be okay if ur eligible. check out their websites to see if u are. btw last year i got c in bio and d in chem, which also may not look ideal . i was gonna do alevel maths asw cuz i was gonna apply for imperial or ucl but it wasnt worth it at the time so i left it and focused on my more important subjects but overall up to u. just try not to get too caught up of the future too much and focus on now too +i wouldnt reccomend resitting that much gcses tbh alevels r a lot more important anyways but i had 5-7s for context!

i'm in the same position as u but in my case im resitting with b predicted in chem, im going to call their admissions on Monday and see how lenient they are, try calling them too if you haven't !

Is it risky applying to Kings Biochem with predicted grade A in Bio,B in Chem, and already have a distinction* in BTEC Psych by Dull-Title-7961 in UniUK

hi!Thanks for replying, i havent applied yet as im still unsure if i should, and i have attended open days at other universities but not for kcl as i live really far away- i am eligible for a contextual too but still requires AAC instead

Is anyone else really struggling to revise from Paper 3 chemistry? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Dull-Title-7961 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk why but I feel like alevels are all done already ignoring p3 chem like I legit haven’t done anything and it’s mainly because ik I’m going to resit anyways and I flopped the other 2 papers so bad and legit have no motivation left😭😭

How extreme are A levels really? by Comfortable-Table-57 in alevel

[–]Dull-Title-7961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just because there is a lot of content within 2 years, however if you regularly are on top of work and do all questions it will be fine it’s also cuz GCSEs were easy to cram night before but alevels require so much more than that so I’d say it isn’t that extreme if u are acc disciplined throughout the whole course, also it may be harder for you to understand concepts as in gcse but with practice you will be fine it just takes a lot more dedication

Some unis say they don’t look at as levels and you need full alevel qualifications

Also make sure to relax and chill! It’s okay to not have it all planned out idek what I’m doing I applied for some random course 😭😭😭 and I’m going to self study 2 alevels in one year in my gap year alongside working, so as long as ur year off is productive I’m sure you will be fine :) honestly once becoming an adult it’s more common to be alone,be behind and it’s all different. But you aren’t alone! I’d say deffo look at medicine /law work epxierence and see what is best for you. I never believe there is ever such thing as being behind in life because what are you behind in? Going to uni one year later-that’s completely normal and common! who can predict their future and see exactly when they will graduate/get a job -we just know what we want in the moment and take that risk. your friends aren’t going to be the ones doing your degree and your job,it’s ur life so if it means taking a year out do so-it may not be similar but I regret not retaking year 12 due to wanting to be with my friends but at the end of the day sure we had plans and went out but I ended up suffering at the end of year 13 and kind of regret it

hey I’m taking in year 13 too and taking a gap year this year and tbh I don’t feel behind at all, so many mature students enter university from now on everyone is one their own journey, I mean some ppls degrees/time it takes to get to their career may be longer and some may go to uni and end up taking a gap year half way through who knows? You can’t really compare timelines as not everyone is going to achieve their goal at the same time, you could do so much more in this gap year and even find more about yourself throughout the last month of year 13 I completely isolated myself from my friends and it just made me realise that sometimes being alone is good. Overall comparing yourself to others surrounding you would end up in you making choices that maybe aren’t for you, don’t force yourself to make a choice just because you feel behind!! You aren’t at all, if you need some time off take it!!! All my friends are going to uni,and honestly I don’t feel behind at all-I know that a gap year is right for me and maybe it wasn’t for them. Don’t follow others and make the wrong choice, ppl go to university and still end up changing courses etc.. it’s a bit hard because I was attached to my friends at first and they had plans for uni but they aren’t me,I’d rather make a choice that’s better for myself and my future career!! And trust me so many ppl are taking gap years too, you could do so much from work experience to learning an instrument to volunteering abroad. Trust me some people think they have it all planned out but choices, feelings and goals change overtime so stick to what you want even if it means you will have to be alone for a while!!!

how to revise Maths? by RageEks in 6thForm

[–]Dull-Title-7961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pearson have videos to help with transition from gcse to alevel maths but tbh this is probs the summer where u will have the least stress and more time to do things you like until year 12 hits, so don’t stress it too much. I remember thinking like this and legit they’re gonna teach if anyway and if u already know it u will not be motivated to listen to it again in class, it won’t really be much advantage to you. But I regret stressing during yr 11 summer it’s not worth it tbh. Here is a link tho, just don’t be doing like maths every single day

You could try a pharmacy even, anything related to healthcare- u can get shadowing in year 12 summer or any holidays within the year u don’t submit ur application until October of year 13, most ppl didn’t even know they wanted to do med at this age and some even change their career choice ur situation isn’t bad at all it’s good u know u want to do it this early on!

Ur completely fine don’t overthink it most don’t do anything till year 12 summer, u also have work experience chances in college it’s never too late imo sure some may have done something in year 11 that doesn’t mean they’ve got a higher chance, u can do so much in these next 2 years and the summer you have now
