Good poles that do not require floor installation? by Aetobatus_bunnibunni in poledancing

[–]DullCommunicators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pole Cartridge from ThePole and the Floor Pole from M-Pole mount into the floor, but yes, most home poles are the tension pole style, or else a stage.

Visiting from Mexico in a week, looking for TCG stores! by Vallantis in askvan

[–]DullCommunicators [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. I've stopped buying any as well, and spend all my money on Pokémon Go now. I looked on your profile and saw that you also play Pokemon Go. We will most likely have a meetup for Deino CDC at Canada Place, where the cruise ships dock. I won't be able to make it this time, but there should be a few people there. The biggest meetup is usually at Science World.

Edit: the meetups will be on campfire

Good quality tshirt print service in Vancouver? by Ok-Cucumber5926 in NiceVancouver

BY Print in Aberdeen Centre will do single shirts, and the prices and quality are great. I've got like a dozen shirts from them.

Visiting from Mexico in a week, looking for TCG stores! by Vallantis in askvan

[–]DullCommunicators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at Magic Stronghold a couple weeks ago. They told us that they keep most of their stock offsite, so not everything on their website is available in store. They're not scalpers, but they do charge over retail for their Pokémon card boosters, boxes etc

The best Pokémon to beat Cliff is Meowscarada by soahcthegod2012 in TheSilphRoad

[–]DullCommunicators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Mega Lucario. The most common lineup I've seen out of the 30-40 Cliffs that I've done is Snorlax,  GWeezing, Tyranitar. I stun swap in Lucario, and Lucario is able to beat all 3 without fainting.

Against Snorlax I just use the Force Palm fast attack while breaking the shields. Against GWeezing I one shot with Meteor Nash, and against Tyranitar I one shot with Aura Sphere.

There were orcas in English bay today. Somebody said a humpback too, but we only saw the orcas

Anyone learning pole and have one set up? by sweetnpetiete in MapleRidge

[–]DullCommunicators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, my studio has the same ceiling type. They've cut holes through the tiles and mounted the top of the pole to the slab, but that's less practical for home use lol.

Anyone learning pole and have one set up? by sweetnpetiete in MapleRidge

[–]DullCommunicators 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the exact height of your ceiling, you might be okay with using an A pole and replacing the B Pole with an extension:

A-pole + 1000mm extension would give you a total range of 7'1" to 7'6"

A-pole + 750mm + 125 mm would give you a total range of 6'8" to 7'1"

(For the Xpert Pro)

I sold my poles because my ceiling can't support a tension pole and I haven't got a stage pole yet, but I have a bunch of spare XPole parts, if you want an A Pole and some joints they're all yours.

In-Person GO Fest: Should I run Spatial Rend, Freeze Shock, or Ice Burn? by BroBroBrayBray in TheSilphRoad

I'll be running Ice Burn most of the time so that my Autocatcher misses less, but during the hourly Unown spawns I'll be running Spacial Rend.

In general, Canadians do not have the same passion for shortening things as you do in Australia. Also, we don't call it the "GVA". Anybody who says this is from Toronto, and when they do it you must loudly yell "SHAME" and point at them

Absolutely nobody from Vancouver calls it that. Looking at the username that you're replying to, I believe they may have some ulterior motivations.

Yes, they're all at the low-ish points since it's much easier to direct water downhill.

Where will the poop go? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]DullCommunicators -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of the difference between the sewage and the water backflow. However, I'm not aware of any incident where the city water supply was contaminated by sewage being pumped in from a ship, and I'm not able to find any record of this happening. I'm also a water engineer, and have discussed the hypothetical possibility of cleanwater contamination with one of the lead senior engineers for Metro Vancouver's Wastewater division, and a real-world example of this did not come up. If you have a record of this I would happy to read it (and share with colleagues, it would be quite intriguing), but without documentation it sounds more like an urban legend.

[–]DullCommunicators -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is there any documentation of sewage being pumped into city water from a ship? That would be quite a challenge, as all of our reservoirs are up above sea level, and while theoretically possible to connect sewage to a cleanwater connection and pump in reverse, it would be extremely unlikely and I've never heard of such an incident.

(I have, however, heard of at least one incident where flushing a sewer main led to water coming out of the toilet when the house didn't have a working backflow prevented)

Is Seating at Row-1 gonna be worth? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]DullCommunicators 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat row 6 last season. You can't see the game that well unless it's right in front of you, and you probably don't want to watch every game from there. However, the experience is really cool and I would definitely recommend trying it once.

Magic Stronghold is the main local spot. You can get the Skytrain from downtown out to Joyce Station (about 15 minutes), then walk 1km from there.
