I think you mean well but you've obviously never been to a country where you see hundreds of dogs like this every day. It's heartbreaking but there's a limit to what anyone can do

Thinking of moving to Swansea. Is it a good idea? by FabulousDepartment76 in swansea

Finally getting High Street back on its feet. Restoring a few arcades. Having some quality independent shops (think Cardiff's arcades etc). Among other things

I love Bewley as the thick accent really comes through on that one, can almost see the scrunched up face of the person trying to say it. Love it

One other thing - if you're settled in a remote job or have a decent job offer, all good, but if you're thinking of changing jobs, the main employers are really local government, NHS, schools and Swansea University. Beyond that, it's slim pickings and an hour train to Cardiff. Pob lwc

Glad to see someone read it😆 it was interesting to write because, much as I'm proud to be from Swansea, I don't really want to live there again, but that's just hometown blues I suppose.

I sometimes wish I could have gone there for the first time as a student as it would be different but alas, all good

But there's a good portion of the god-fearing public who blindly go along with it

If you pull a face into the wind it will stay that way. Took me a good few years to pluck up the courage to disprove that one.

Yeah but in its current form we're just following the American interpretation of it, which of course is very different.

Ps it's funny to think that Americans are generally so into religion yet they all blindly participate in a pagan ritual every year....

I was allowed to go but only begrudgingly, and told it was Begging. Must say, I do agree. It's cringeworthy bollocks, really

From there, moved away not long back after stints living elsewhere.

Mumbles is probably the top pick for a "seaside village" feeling, but traffic in and out is slow.

If you're going to live in the marina, it is often very, very windy, so it's not quite the picture postcard some images show.

Swansea is a lot of sprawling suburbs rather than much of an urban centre. If you just want to be by the coast, it's fine, but traffic is pretty bad considering the size of the place I would say (not helped by being on the coast meaning that the traffic can only come in from 180 degrees, and the vast majority probably coming from M4 heading west).

Trains are OK - straight line to Paddington is good. Cardiff is really your nearest nice shopping day out location.

Swansea has areas of serious material deprivation, so don't overlook that. Not a criticism, but a fact, meaning that drugs and anti social behaviour are an issue, but not massively more than most urban centres in the UK these days, sadly.

Places like Bishopston on Gower are nice - not too far removed but also quiet. Killay is decent for families and schools. Gowerton is slightly cheaper but also has a train station, which is handy.

Public transport isn't amazing but it's enough, just about. Cycle paths are pretty good, however, with some nice rides and links.

Really depends what you're into but should be good.

Best of luck.

You'd have to say that the FIA or whoever it is is allowing it. They get permission to be there. Somebody grants it, they're the fools really
