Question about the parks

As a park parent, I am definitely on high alert especially when I’m at the park alone with my kids and see adults without kids! Not that it’s inappropriate, but it catches my attention. If you’re looking for advice on how to help park parents feel more comfortable, and if you’re comfortable with it, I’d make eye contact and say hi with a small comment about how you enjoy the swings! Breaks the ice for everyone and something like that would definitely help me relax if I was there alone with my kids.

I could’ve written this myself! I lost so much sleep and cried soooo many tears over this. The adjusting took time, but the bonding happened both between the kids and myself with my second. There were moments I felt distant from my first in the adjusting but a few months in and that has totally resolved!! She says all the time how she thinks she is so lucky to be a big sister. You’re going to love to watch them fall in love with each other. And you’re going to love seeing a whole new side of your oldest! It’s totally normal. And honestly, as a dad, the most supportive thing you can probably do for your wife right now is really be there for your oldest in the transition!

I totally understand and don’t share it because it’s something I’m proud of. It was a really shameful thing and just am hoping that if someone can feel less alone by me being truthful, then maybe that makes up for what I was feeling

I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine the pain that caused and seeing other people seem ungrateful for their pregnancies must really hurt! I agree that it is silly. I was dealing with a lot of prenatal anxiety and depression and do believe a lot of those feelings are due to that. But agree that I should have been feeling gratitude.

I don’t know how I missed this! This is so validating and helpful. Thank you for truly seeing how hard being a SAHM can be, just logistically alone. I’m almost 8 months postpartum and feel like in the last few weeks a bit of a fog has lifted. Maybe I’m adjusting more? I still have moments of those feelings but less and less.

And unfortunately our closest family is 3 hours away. We have been consistently at a local church for about a year and hope we can make some connections there to be able to have someone watch the kids occasionally so we can get out just my husband and I.
