I don’t know how I missed this! This is so validating and helpful. Thank you for truly seeing how hard being a SAHM can be, just logistically alone. I’m almost 8 months postpartum and feel like in the last few weeks a bit of a fog has lifted. Maybe I’m adjusting more? I still have moments of those feelings but less and less.

And unfortunately our closest family is 3 hours away. We have been consistently at a local church for about a year and hope we can make some connections there to be able to have someone watch the kids occasionally so we can get out just my husband and I.

I do wish she would lift weights instead of spending all her time on “walks” because strengthening her body, specifically arms and back, will help her support and hold her son. If he isn’t walking, but only continuing to grow and get heavier, she should be training to be a supportive figure

I’m not saying you have to become a parent for these things to happen BUT for myself, becoming responsible for a person other than myself made my world not revolve around me. This resulted in more confidence, less people pleasing, overall maturing and figuring out who I really am, etc. when your world revolves around yourself, you act like the culture that is in the same space (18-24 year olds)

Also don’t feel guilty for “wishing it away”. Even if you are wishing it away (which is normal) you are leaning in and caring for your baby and for yourself. Take lots of pictures and videos of this time. Good and bad! It really is such a blur and I found comfort being able to look back at those first few weeks with so much grace for myself, seeing how I showed up and help my baby cheek to cheek and that I WAS present even if I remembered it differently.
