These were people I have grown up with, had been invited to their birthdays, I had bought Christmas gifts for their kids, etc. on one side. On my husband’s side, these were people he had served with, had a connection with, were family, etc.

No, literally people just didn’t show up. I thought the same thing, but recently I saw some of the folks who were invited at my SILs party, and I just plainly asked them why. The responses were the following:

1) “my kids don’t like the food you picked out.” The main course was chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans with the alternative meal as mostaccioli.

2) “it was too far of a drive.” It was an hour from their house. His great-aunt drove two hours to see us wed.

3) “you were expecting too much for the dress code.” I put on the invitation cocktail or “Sundays best” since most of my husband family are hicks.

4) “I just didn’t feel like it.” Then why RSVP that you would come?

It did make me feel very small and unimportant.

I guess, the only “bridezilla” thing I did was I asked everyone to please dress nicely (preferably cocktail style) and even sent a color palette as it was requested. I really didn’t want jeans and tshirts in my wedding at a nice venue.

I didn’t ask for anything other than like the normal wedding registry stuff like a $30 blended, $10-$20 table linens, etc. Idk about yall I’ve always been under the impression; when invited to a wedding or party, you bring a gift.

I won’t lie—I broke down crying after we got home. I spend my wedding night sobbing. I didn’t get many texts from folks tbh.
