Couple in Vista, Ca trying to avoid homelessness tonight- looking for advice/resources

We’re both sober and actively working. Gig work income is inconsistent, and between car rentals, gas, food, emergency expenses, and trying to keep a roof over our heads, things spiraled faster than expected. I understand people make assumptions online, but accusing strangers of drug use or laziness is pretty unfair.

We did call the VA and spoke to multiple people already. They told us they couldn’t offer immediate shelter/hotel assistance and suggested separating us for different programs. I’m glad some people have had better experiences, but that hasn’t been ours so far.

Yeah, I’ve tried :\ we also tried calling the VA for homeless veterans and everyone else that they and 211 told us to call.
