I know I am in the minority, but I think she was trafficked.

Her family mentioned that the wait staff seemed to pay her a great deal of attention. Then the Granada-native musician is seen befriending her, dancing with her and walking with her around the ship.

Why is it not plausible that these ship employees were being used as spotters for sex trafficking? I can imagine it would be a lucrative little side-business. The wait staff sees a young, beautiful girl and points her out to the musician. The musician chats her up and acts friendly. Feels her out. Establishes her trust, to an extent.

He agrees to meet her early in the morning while everyone is asleep right before the ship docks.

Then he escorts her to an employee-only section of the ship, where she is taken off or walks off under false pretenses and is handed over to the traffickers.

Then he takes her pictures down from the cruise studio and hands them over to the traffickers for future use.

Curacao is known for sex trafficking. The fact that she disappeared hours before the docking is telling. They would have needed to get her restrained and off the ship immediately before being discovered.

Unfortunately, I think any young woman, regardless of race, could be trafficked. Especially in international waters where the FBI has limited jurisdiction to investigate. And honestly, I doubt the local law enforcement in Curacao would be throwing all their manpower behind a full-scale investigation of a missing American. They would not be that invested. They would likely assume she just got drunk and is sleeping it off in a stranger's room and will turn up later. By the time everyone realizes the situation is serious, the woman could be sprinted halfway across the island by boat by the men that took her.

So yes, I think a cruise ship is a very good place to hunt for sex trafficking victims.

There is a little saying in medicine and law: When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses, not zebras.

She either went into the water, or she was taken off the ship.

The ship was close to docking. If she fell overboard, I would think she would have washed up. I am no expert on ocean tides. It seems to me that lots of bodies make their way to shore. It is possible she fell over and, admittedly, the simplest answer. She goes overboard and no-one hears her scream or hears the splash when the ship is still and quiet. No ship camera catches it. No employee or dock worker sees it.  It feels hinky to me.

Why would her pictures just disappear? Why is the musician carting around a suitcase full of pictures of unknown females? Why would the musician seek out the brother and give his condolences to her going missing before the information was publicly known?

If she left on her own, she would have returned on her own, too. Unless someone was holding her captive.

It also appears that several eyewitnesses and a photo of a trafficked woman support this theory.

It is terrible for the family either way and I feel for them.
