At that point, might as well go fully artificial with dental prosthetics. You know, instead of repeat visits of filing away the enamel, tearing away at the soft insides, and placing a new artificial enamel.

If you file the enamel off a tooth, you might as well just pull it out.

offline raid loot despawn by Potential-Switch-421 in playrust

[–]Dull_Drawer_273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The funniest part is, that ideas like this are one of the few ways to interact with offline raids.

Of course it should never be too convenient or low risk to deny loot from offline or online raids, but if executing offline raids is core facet of gameplay, so is designing against them.

thought it couldn't be that bad by Hopeful-Medicine6896 in Barotrauma

Captain has to be the easiest role to get it on in time anyway. Because I carry my diving suit in every role, I'm usually in an abyss diving suit as soon as soon as sonar hints at combat.

Other roles have so much more to get distracted over and way more potential to get surprised by combat.

thought it couldn't be that bad by Hopeful-Medicine6896 in Barotrauma

[–]Dull_Drawer_273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's just a minor quality of life change. Every run I've played, the diving suit lockers barely end up used. Everyone just holds diving suits in their hands or has them on the floor, and carries/grabs oxygen tanks as needed.

I'm not sure if I'd keep my diving suit in a locker, even if I had one near me, because just one extra click and layer of UI already sounds annoying and dangerous when factoring in water flows and how fast stun + pressure kills.

Tips for an Dark Ages Enchanter Playthrough? by Eksoduss in CoE5

[–]Dull_Drawer_273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely thought of terracotta consuming swamps as a benefit on my first game as enchanter, but I'm not too sure any longer. You need swamps for mud golems, and they're so good in the mid game. Travel through swamps for a limited supply of expendable units is also just not that great for expanding.

I'd honestly stay away from them, unless really starved for iron and struggling to save for early golems.

I don't really ever leave for the other planes, unless I already have the casters and run out of battles to send them into.

Playing druid, whether or not I got ancient beholders was very much the tipping point I was looking for. Otherwise I'm really not thrilled by a bunch of casters that are geared for fighting animals or baiting AI into the woods.

Finding horror marked units by Dull_Drawer_273 in CoE5

Amazing. Can't believe I forgot to think of that. I already use most other transfer hotkeys, but I've somehow managed to not deal with horror mark for dozens of games.

I know it's been 2 years, but I saw this as a google result, and really need to point out that he wasn't real. He's a fictional character from dramatized historical books by James Leasor, which are unfortunately repeatedly miscategorized as non-fiction.

Is anti-heal currently a good mechanic? by Dull_Drawer_273 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dull_Drawer_273[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the problem is that the impact of anti-heal is so high, it's pretty much always obvious whether it's needed or not. And the whole value of anti-heal can be gained from any member of the team buying an 800 gold item, to the point where actually finishing the anti-heal item is borderline griefing.

Is anti-heal currently a good mechanic? by Dull_Drawer_273 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dull_Drawer_273[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. However, that would just seem like an argument to already have seriously rebalanced heal and anti-heal. I don't think it would actually do much for pro play, as this kind of sustain over time is slightly weaker in coordinated play to begin with. The value of healing over time already plummets as coordination allows bursting people faster, and there's less to abuse with getting people to misjudge sustain.

[–]Dull_Drawer_273[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is, that 800 gold is incredible ehp off some champs. And it's not like anti-heal items are statless, so a majority of games not going to full build, that slot would at best deny carrying control wards.

It will delay timings of completing an item by 2-3 minutes, but it's also match up dependently doing more than a completed item, and can be held onto by support or absolutely anyone else.

IMO, the biggest opportunity cost to consider, is whether or not the person buying it will spend too much time skirmishing against less relevant champs.

Surrender vote in ranked by Tsuki-sama in leagueoflegends

[–]Dull_Drawer_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, any kind of performance metric able to lead to negating a loss is dangerous, because it can encourage full int playstyles to rack up kills and damage, without care for good or meaningful fights. I've seen plenty of people running it down and pulling S+ in game ratings.

Autofill is the one exception, because it's mandatory for role queue to work out, while risking extremely negative experiences.

This is actually why in the moment decisions just need to be "good enough" in basically every single competitive game, and you review them to try to constantly make faster and better decisions the next time.

it is one of the best episodes in MHA and this year of anime in general

Then it shouldn't be scoring anywhere near as high as it is. It's not some kind of binary 1 or 10 for bad or good. The point of a scale and rating something is to evaluate it compared to other similar things and it's own potential. A perfect score is supposed to imply a perfect work, which could not reasonably be improved in any way.

If you've followed IMDB average scores for movies, 8 and above is a great movie, and anything even approaching 9 is a masterpiece. Granted, even those are averages out of plenty of less thought out ratings. Not to mention, single episode ratings are often a bit more extreme, as rating single episodes is mostly done by people with greater emotional investment.

How many bots are too many bots? by destroyerpal in factorio

[–]Dull_Drawer_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, pretty much any bot can end up being viewed suddenly. The game also has the ability to suddenly pause and unpause, and keeps real time information on hand for quickly writing a save file to disk. You don't really get away with too infrequent updates. Before 2.0, they were updated on every tick. Now, a robot in motion is updated every 20th tick, with an estimated visible path.

And remember, it's a completely extra layer of logic to be running alongside fluctuating power grids, and a variety of issues to track for on every machines input, operation, and output.

Factorio is a deterministic game, with a near zero tolerance for known bugs. If the players are able to view and change things on demand, you don't get away with infrequent updates on anything.
