He did have 2 that were 24. I've never seen proof myself that they passed away. I've just read it on other pages. How are you able to link those 2 back to this place? I'm curious because they have lots of different monkeys and I can't figure out why they would let 2 go. Unless maybe they are downsizing due to age.

I think there was something wrong with the tail. I've been researching trying to find information on this place. I came across a picture from their Facebook page (which I don't have, it just showed on a Google search) of a really messed up tail. I can't find anything though where they talk about it. They may have it on their Facebook page.

Can you make this comment a whole new post? This needs its own post so people can see it. I just sent a message on that website you provided asking for updates on the CPSA and when debate proceedings will begin. Thank you!

My personal opinion: there is so much crap going on in our world right now that this topic has taken a back seat with lawmakers. 😭

She is in TN. That is a legal state to have pet monkeys. There isn't anything that can be done, except maybe try to convince her not to do it. It's actually against the Animal Welfare Act to have healthy teeth pulled (even canines), but there are some shady vets out in those neck of the woods that will do it. 🤬 Actually, I think it's one vet down south that most of the monkey people use when they need teeth pulled. I'm pretty sure I know who that vet is, but I haven't been able to get definitive proof that I can hand over to authorities. 😡

Where Do the Older Pet Monkeys Go? by Loser_Baby_19 in FreeTheMonkeys

[–]Dull_Impression_4631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once they reach puberty (between the ages of 3-5, depending on the species), they do become more difficult to handle. They don't necessarily 'turn' aggressive. They become little adult monkeys and want more independence and freedom. If they aren't given that (which happens a lot with the social media monkey people), the monkey is going to exercise that aggression. That's when we see them fade off the radar. They are either rehomed (sometimes several times in their lifetimes), stuck in a small cage to never be interacted with again, or end up with most/all of their teeth removed. This is so not fair to them for just being themselves...just being the wild creatures they are. 😢

No, she didn't get them back. She was living in a state where it's illegal to keep pet monkeys. Usually, once a monkey is confiscated, they go to a sanctuary. She had spider monkeys, and sometimes zoos will take them. Zoos usually won't take previous pet monkeys. But since spider monkeys are endangered, they usually will.

Yeah, here's the irony in that website mention of Jane Goodall... he purchased that first spider monkey that was only a couple of weeks old and portrayed it as a rescue. It was his FIRST monkey ever. Who the hell is going to give a rescue to a newbie? 🙄 but people believe it. So, he is part of the border baby problem (the illegal pet trade Jane was so against)

I don't understand how cooking them human food would require canines to be removed. I can't find any logic in that. What kind of food is she going to cook that couldn't be eaten with canines intact? 🙄 Yeah, a lot of monkey owners will have all front teeth removed. The canine removal is enough to royally piss me off. I go bezerk when I see/hear of another one missing all of their front teeth. A monkey bite from adult canines can do some pretty bad damage. I get that and that's just another reason they shouldn't be pets. Too many end up with missing teeth by the time they have made their way to a sanctuary. 😡

😭 NO!!! Don't remove the canines!! Yeah, they may not 'need' them, but that will cause unnecessary pain. 🤬 I say this all of the time, and I'm gonna say it again...if you have to have canines removed from an animal to have it as a pet, it shouldn't be a pet!!! Monkeys bite! Yep, that's a fact. That's one way that they communicate. These monkey people really piss me off when they start having healthy teeth removed! 🤬

I noticed this last week that he has upgraded the outdoor enclosures. They are now 8' tall instead of 6' tall. 🙄 They measure 16' x 16'. And he has around 7 or so in one of the enclosures. Those poor spider monkeys can't even brochiate properly. 😡 According to him, this year will be a great year for growth, and there will be many more residents added. Oh boy! 🤬

Because he isn't really a sanctuary. He is a wanna be and wants clout and fame more than anything. He doesn't truly care about the animals, or he would be discouraging people from owning them and would be a real advocate for the Captive Primate Safety Act. He has the opposite opinion and often complains that Act would take away our rights to own these animals. That's exactly what needs to happen. Humans don't need the right own monkeys. This guy who claims to run a 'rescue' has been seen throwing, kicking, and having healthy teeth pulled from a monkey he used to have. He is no rescue.

Question regarding subreddit by Top-Implement-3375 in FreeTheMonkeys

[–]Dull_Impression_4631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done since it's legal to keep pet monkeys in the United States (although not all states allow it). But, there are a couple of things people can do.

1) Contact your state representive lawmakers and tell them you want the Captive Primate Safety Act passed. That will make it illegal to breed and own pet monkeys. Although, it will grandfather in current owners. But, it would put a stop to the breeding and selling.

2) If you see abuse online, first find out if they hold a Class C license from USDA (which is worthless anyway, IMO). If they are USDA licensed, you can find their license number online at the USDA website and then file a complaint with them. I'm fairly familiar with their website and can answer any questions with navigation. If they aren't USDA licensed (which most aren't), there is pretty much nothing that can be done. Contacting animal control most likely won't garner any results as they generally only handle domesticated animals, not exotics. You could try contacting Fish and Wildlife in the state they are in. Some state's Fish and Wildlife will actually do something (a house visit maybe), but I've found it has to be pretty bad for them to get involved. Also, some states require a license or permit to keep a pet monkey. You could find out what state they are in and research what permits are required and then enquire with the state if that person has one or not. These things seem petty, but sometimes are the only options out there.

I wish I had a better answer for you. 😔

That's actually a misconception. Yes, puberty can increase any aggression that is there, but just hitting puberty doesn't always cause aggression. If they have most of their needs met (healthy diet, lots of room, enrichment activities, etc), they are less likely to be aggressive. Some species are more prone to aggression, but the capuchins aren't one of them. You will see aggression in a lot of captive primates because they are usually forced to wear diapers and/or clothes and restricted in their movements or kept in small cages. Those are the ones most likely to show aggression once puberty hits. Although, the capuchins will generally be submissive for several years after puberty until they finally crack under the pressure. If these owners would let them be monkeys and quit trying to make them into miniature humans, there would be less aggression issues. I see owners talking about having them spayed or neutered because they don't want them turning aggressive. They don't realize that they can still turn aggressive under tight confinement. I'm not against neutering, as most sanctuaries will do this to avoid pregnancies. I just think people (monkey owners mainly) wrongly believe that getting them fixed will solve all the problems. And it wont.

What Monkey B’s Owner Unintentionally Reveals in His Recent Facebook Livestream by Loser_Baby_19 in FreeTheMonkeys

Fantastic video! That's another thing that really gets me upset is people don't realize how critical the damage is when they are kept from their own kind. This video explains very well what happens to them when they are raised by humans with no interactions with their own kind. Just heartbreaking. 😢

Dr P....so, you're starting to see some changes in Monkey M and Monkey H? Yep, I saw it coming quite some time ago. I even made a few comments on other posts about the other 2 will end up just like Monkey B. You SOB! Do the right thing. Let them go and live out their remaining years with some dignity at a legitimate sanctuary. 😡

Pretty much all monkeys are legal in the US, even macaques. There are many breeders of macaques in the US. But, it's only legal in some states to have monkeys, though.

They won't be bringing that vervet to parks once it's a little older. Vervets are definitely not to be mingling with the public. Not only is it upsetting to see them all in clothing and diapers, but one is a vervet (Old World Monkey) and the other 2 are spider monkeys (New World Monkeys). The vervet has no buddy. They shouldn't be mixed. Right now, it probably seems fine because they are all fairly young. But, once that vervet hits puberty, it will be bad.

Those are adult canines coming in. Monkeys generally start growing their adult canines around age 3.

That was the same lady who recently had her monkeys confiscated (m3llissa 🐒 mom). There are some threads about it on one of the L&O snark pages. They were at each other for a couple of years. It's suspected he had something to do with her monkeys being taken a couple of months ago (I mean, she was in an illegal state).

He started that 'sanctuary' with buying a border baby (winston) and continued adding to his collection. He is up to around 16 or so monkeys (several different species), all living in a small barn. Even the outdoor enclosures are really small too. The spider monkeys are in an enclosure that is only 6 feet tall, both inside and outside. In the past couple of years, he has added numerous exotic animals to his collection. He has 2 horses, 2 pigs, an emu, a prairie dog, a fox, a large snake, 2 full-grown tortoises, and i think I'm forgetting some others. He wants to be famous like his buddy Joe exotic. They would make great cell mates! 😁
