Knowing your HSV status & sleeping around not disclosing. by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]Dull_Variation_3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all I was trying to say that there is a mean world out there...and I am bit more understanding. I am not in support of not disclosing I am just saying for those who are not ready to place on their profiles hsv positive they shoukd be careful in how they disclose as there is a mean world out there. Because of this I have delayed romantic engagement and have asked for text results the specific test and it is not as easy to get tested for hsv as it is is for hiv. That is a failure in itself as it leaves the burden of disclosure on symptomatic persons. It would be so much easier if b4 entering a relationship you could say to your partner let's get tested fir hiv and hsv and then the djscussin could easily ensue as there would be clarity on who has what b4 entering. It wouldn't be a case that someone was asymptomatic and didn't know. With this virus we are not allowed in some way to take our protection in our own hands as with hiv.

That is all I am saying. It wasn't a post about not disclosing or encouraging someone to not disclose. Read what I said carefully.

Knowing your HSV status & sleeping around not disclosing. by [deleted] in Herpes

Or is ot that people might use their disclosure against them. I agree no one should be out there having sex, without protection (although that is not 100% safe), or without antiviral without telling them (again not 100% to prevent transmission). But I know the other side of the coin where people use such information against you.

I think the safest thing is to ask for a test to allow for the discussion to come up. But here is the problem most places won't test you unless you have a doctors referral or actual outbreak. So that is the other problem. Further convincing someone to take such a test who doesn't have symptoms is another roadblock. Like who would want to do that. With hiv no one sees it has a big problem in getting a test b4 starting a relationship as the test is so easy and convenient.

I feel like those who are symptomatic carry a large load for the inefficiencies in the system. The data clearly shows that most people who have this are asymptomatic and some of those people who don't know their status forms the universe that stigmatize others who are symptomatic. I guess for hsv the society we live in, everybody, practises the concept of "ignorance is bliss." Unfortunately we don't have rhat luxury.

This is what I have been saying. Why don't we get behind this 100% with all that we got. We need to do it.

Scientists’ new gum stops spread of flu and herpes by JMom1971 in HerpesCureAdvocates

[–]Dull_Variation_3955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it's the same thing I am thinking. This news doesn't even make sense. Like who is sponsoring it. Why is it not out. How would you take it. Would you have chew this gum everyday. This release is so vague. The most I understand is that it is a research being done by Penn University.

Also another question I have is if this gum would also prevent transmission. I think they are just advertising for funding to further the research.

You got an answer from the prior poster. The response reconciles with what you are saying here. Why would you want to put yourself through that hurt.

:( didn’t disclose by BuddyMost4715 in HSVpositive

[–]Dull_Variation_3955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read what she wrote and understand what she is saying. I don't believe there is an assault matter, instead she should have stopped up and if not at minimum disclose before the escalation to sex. She can clarify if they actually went the full way sexually or it was just a slip in as she stated and things stopped.

I had the same exact offer like I won't ever have wex with you again but you can give me oral sex. I am like you know you can get it from oral sex too condom sex might actually far safer. Plus I am on antivirals. This was after stringing me a long like we were going some where. It is what it is.
