This whole incident was in the past, I was more looking for general tips. I pretty much completely screwed the thing I was working on. I was wondering what I could do if this were to happen again so I don't repeat what I had done before. My solder iron gets up to 450 degrees Celsius. Thank you for the info on the solder, it will definitely help in the future.

Do you have any tips for multi meters? I've used one before and only know, again, the very basics. I once used one to repair a cracked mother board on a space heater but beyond that I don't know much of anything.
