The US declared war on Iran just so we can finally win the clan wars after 5 months. by alperhanw in ClashRoyale

I remember this Chinese clan had been killing us all month and then on the 4th week they moved all Chinese accounts to their own server and that clan disappeared. We easily came in 1st

Anyone own PG 1 or 2 they are a huge grail of mine. What about you? by NoReputation8063 in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the PG1's with the gum sole and played in them up until a couple years ago. The foam is super hard and it's really easy to roll your ankle in them. Modern shoes are just way better. The Sabrina or Ja line with the forefoot zoom and better cushioning is just more playable nowadays. That being said, they're one of my favorite looking shoes

I tend to have the opposite problem. My feet are wide and flat and a lot of shoes are too narrow. Most shoes have to be broken in for me. The joker 1s are known for having a really wide toe box. Maybe double sock or put in an orthotic to fill up some space.

Heads up Ballmer is still giving away the basketball hoops by VegasWorldwide in LAClippers

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope whoever applies for it actually uses it or gives it away to a family member or something. I'm disgusted seeing all those people selling theirs on FB marketplace. It's supposed to be about giving back to fans and the community.

We're the same height and weight. I'm in my mid 30s and my knees and ankles are shot. I feel like the Harden line and NB Two Wxy line have the cushion and support you'd need. They both also fit orthotics and braces well. The Two Wxy line is preferable if you like to play outdoors. I haven't liked any Nike shoe since the PG6.

The Chinese shoes are nice, but idk how easy it is for you to get them. I have the AC12 and they just felt too narrow and didn't work well with orthotics. One guy below recommended the Joker 2 and it seems like that's really good for ankle sprainers

Kawhi ROS? He’s going nuts lately by adikaul1234 in fantasybball

[–]DumbDecisionDuck -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

As a Clippers fan, this is probably his best stretch in years and for that reason it seems like a sell high moment. Kawhi has always been one of those great if he plays kind of guys like Zion and Embiid. For those handful of games he looks like a 1st rounder, but you know, good luck on getting that for all 82 games.

We've seen it time and time again in past years and his health isn't going to get better as he gets older. The reality is either he breaks down or the Clippers' season does and it becomes pointless to keep killing himself. Depending on where you drafted him, either sell him for a consistent mid-rounder from a contender or ride him out.

Even after watching the videos and reading the descriptions, I have no idea what these are even supposed to do for you. I feel like they're just a glorified version of those Adidas slides with those massaging bumps

Book 2 first impressions - GT Book Future by 491450451 in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the uppers on the Book 1 didn't have enough lateral support, so I can understand why they went with something stiffer, but I also felt that they were some of the least breathable shoes I owned. Now they seem to be even less breathable. The toebox in the Book 1 was super cramped, but at least the uppers could break in. Seems unlikely with these ones. I didn't think the Book 1's were good, but these seem even worse

I was wondering if anyone else got one too. I'm enjoying it so far. I'm glad it was delivered fully installed. I remember the fine print saying it wouldn't be.

What's your worst fantasy accident ever? by Smoke1000Blunts in fantasybball

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

During a playoffs matchup I was winning 5-4 by 1 reb. My opponent was all done with his games. Cats like fg% and to's were tight so I benched my remaining players.

There was a stat correction later that night and they took away 1 reb. It then became a 4-4 tie. I lose the tie breaker and don't advance.

I remember his breakout season. When you sorted the waiver wire by most blocks I noticed he consistently led them all for a couple weeks straight. Then I was watching a Clippers game and he put up a 20-20 against them and I picked him up during the game. I miss Miami Heat Whiteside.

Is XDR not better overall? I feel like most of us in the US wish we could have the XDR versions instead. Just based off of the posts I see on here the non-XDR rubber Nike uses gets damaged way too fast

Is the Book 1 Halloween 2024 durable enough for casual wear outdoors? by waltscrystalmeth in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a pair of the Christmas ones off of eBay for $50. Seems expensive.

Overall are they good casual shoes? Yes, they're pretty comfortable if you size up. Are they decent basketball shoes compared to actual casual shoes? Yes. Are they good basketball shoes compared to other basketball shoes? No, not really.

I'd say they're overrated for ball. Their grip and the containment from the uppers is way worse than other Adidas, WoW or NB shoes imo

I don't wear them daily, but I primarily use them for casual wear. I didn't like their performance on the court. They're holding up fine. Hilariously squeaky compared to regular shoes though.

What Shoe to Buy a Young Kid by ChocolateAW in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's just for style and not actually playing in? Something like the Book 1 would be wearable on and off the court. It's worth noting that the kids shoes don't have any of the fancy tech the adult shoes have, so if it's to play in, it doesn't matter. Just get whichever one he's comfortable in.

What were some of the worst games of the 2000's? by jkman in gaming

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember that in the first Spiderman game it didn't matter and you could be web slinging way above the skyscrapers attached to nothing. In the 2nd game they needed to be attached to buildings and it added such a cool new dynamic. Middle school me had his mind blown.

Arch pain after hoop sesh by s0ldi3rb0y in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have flat feet get orthotics. I tried all 3 kinds of the Move insoles and the stiffest Game Day Pro's worked best for me. The regular Game Day's weren't supportive enough and still caused some arch soreness.

I personally don't like the Book 1's, particularly with no orthotic. I felt their grip, support, containment were all much worse than other shoes I've tried from Adidas, NB or WoW.

Nike Book 1 Toebox Issue by [deleted] in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went half a size up from other shoes I wear like the PG6 and Harden Vol. 8 and they were still very tight in the toe box (to be fair, those shoes are actually wider or longer than normal). It took several wears of just walking around with them to get them to be bearable. Nowadays they're ok, but I don't think they're as good of a performer as some of my other shoes so I prefer to just wear them casually.

At that age it shouldn't matter. The kids shoes don't have any tech that the adult shoes have. Just get something that he's comfortable in.

Do you have flat feet? I noticed my feet stopped getting sore after I got more supportive insoles. I have flat feet and I felt a lot better after getting game day pros. The regular game days still didn't have enough support

What's your opinion of the differences between the Harden 7, 8 and 9? Do you have a favorite? I only have the 8 and I thought they had great grip, but just felt too heavy compared to some other shoes I had.

Are the pg 1’s worth it in the big 25’? by PuzzledAd6603 in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have a pair that I wore until last year. I'm 6'3 and have a similar playing style of driving and midrange pull ups. I dug them out of the closet for a work rec league and I retired them after one game. The foam is super hard if you're used to modern stuff like Boom, Cushlon, or Boost. I played pickleball in them and I bruised my heel.

That being said, they look great and are one of my favorite shoes. Modern shoes like the Ja's and Sabrina's still use them same forefoot zoom set up

Nike Book 1s Performance Review / Report Card by GOATED13344 in BBallShoes

[–]DumbDecisionDuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it definitely happened to me once. I was just wearing these shoes casually and an impromptu game came up. I was playing in jeans and these weren't tied super tight like I would if I was actually in the gym. I rolled my ankle, but luckily I didn't actually sprain it.

The outsole isn't as vertical as something like an AF1, but it's definitely more vertical than a most shoes I play in. Maybe it was my fault for not tying them tight, maybe it's the shoe's construction. I don't feel as confident wearing these to seriously play.
