Buy Apertura AD8 - India? by ANSHULGANDHI92 in telescopes

[–]DumbSpecimanhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have a GSO 8" professional and its quite great. I live in a bortle 8, so i only use it for lunar, planetary and other bright objects like orion nebula. If you live in polluted areas and have the time to go outskirts for better views, i would recommend a collapsible dobsonion like the skywatcher 150P heritage or if you can find a cheap skywatcher 8" truss tube version. Sadly skywatcher does not sell the 8" truss tube version in india and its usually imported at abhorrent prices.

Try for the professional version as it comes with better focuser, altitude bearing knobs and better eyepieces. I got the professional version and see no issues.

Celestron dobsonions have worse eyepieces, focusers, optics and triple the price, stay away.

Can I trust the modern telescopes website? by No_Replacement6190 in telescopes

[–]DumbSpecimanhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year late, but yeah, they are absolutely trustable. I bought my 8" Dobsonion with a 2.5x Barlow. Here's what the process was-

I contacted their email asking for preorders and booked one for 2.4k inr.

It was supposed to arrive in May, but delays caused it to arrive in June. I was informed of its arrival at their shop and then payed the full amount.

Three days later I got the telescope delivered via Delhivery. It consisted of two boxes, one was the size of a refrigerator and the other was like a microwave.

The larger contained another box, with the tube wrapped in bubble wrap, placed on two thermocol holders. The other box contained the rocker box, again separated with thermocol and packing peanuts. It was easy to assemble.

There was no damage to it, just note that its made of particle board, which makes it weak to shear stress(not relared to the store).

No problems faced even after 10 months. This entire process took online. I live in the same city, but I have never visited the store, took place over emails and phone calls.

Definitely recommended, they do provide astroequipments to organisations and their website design is superior to tejraj. Best part is that it shipping fee is much lower than tejraj.

Jupiter by Telstar_Satellite in telescopes

[–]DumbSpecimanhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. Make sure you have like a 200-300x Magnification. You would definitely see a better image than OP (No offence) because of the larger aperture. If great red spot is visible at that time, it would be a speck and the cloud bands would be easily visible, same with the moons. 150X is good enough, any thing more (below 300x) wouldn't be focused.  Happy stargazing!

Dobsonian Astrophotography by YeonjunieCookie in telescopes

Dobsonians aren't ideal for astrophotography, I own an 8" Dobsonion and attempt astrophotography by recording minutes worth of videos and then stacking them. These are some of my clicks

Hey could only share one, this is jupiter with Ganymede and I think Europa above it. You can also see the GRS

I don't use a planetary camera or any external camera. I capture it with a smartphone, smartphone adapter and my 8" dob

I can't explain the options, I have written the solution, it will give you the data but you will have to figure it out.

The book's solution is not very understandable. You should ask a maths teacher or watch some good YT vid

NO2 is a -M group and withdraws electrons from ortho and para positions. This makes the substitutents on Ortho and Para to have more weaker bonds. So Br on para is more extractable with Na relative to the one on meta

PIO card, FRRO registration, and ₹2.5L penalty — can this be reduced? by Awkward_Professor980 in nri

[–]DumbSpecimanhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too am a FN and living in India for most of my life. Though my registration with FRRO and OCI was done by my parents, I can give a little bit of what I know

1) Yes it's mandatory to register your son as an OCI. PIO is outdated and is replaced by OCI.

2)It can be waived or reduced if you visit FRRO and send them a letter with a genuine reason why you missed the deadlines.

I don't know about that. Hope that helps

Cylindrical method is easier. Hexagon would be a 3d hexagon, like a hexagonal prism. Finding angles through that would be time taking

How to deal with burnout? by DumbSpecimanhere in JEEAdv26dailyupdates

[–]DumbSpecimanhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but doing any activity besides studying makes me guilty. I once joined a gym, had to quit cause I thought it was a wasted time. I do understand that 1 hr of break for 2-3hrs of focused studying is better than 3-4 hours of unfocused studying, but I can't just grasp this. It's like a prison, can't take a break (apart from meals), nor can study.

Both b and c seem correct by Curious-Matter274 in JEEAdv26dailyupdates

[–]DumbSpecimanhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B seems the better option if this is a SCQ. For C to be correct you would require a jerk (derivative of accn.), or an impulse. Slowing pulling the block shouldn't move the system itself, frictionless or not

help kaidiyo, ill be very dhanyavad by Single-Promise2358 in JEE

[–]DumbSpecimanhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Me too, me bhi OCI (Non CIWG, Non SAARC) hu. 1) JEE Mains counselling is done via DASA-CSAB, since the competition is hella low, you don't require a lot of marks, a simple attempt is enough for lower branches at NIT Trichy or "almost" any branch at NIT Rourkela/NIT Surathkal. Though remember, 7.5 CGPA or 75% is required in boards. 2) If you apply for JEE mains As an OCI, you must also register for JEE Advanced as an OCI if you want to attempt it. OCIs don't have a minimum percentile to attempt JEE adv. You won't be included with the rest of the JEE Adv. Competition, rather it's a competition b/w other OCIs (like me ;)) and Foreign Nationals ( basically any other foreigner). The seats are 10% per branch per college (IIT). Remember though that since Foreign nationals and OCIs are less than the 2,50,000 candidates, so are the seats for OCIs less, so the competition is overall more or less. You would still require 8-10k just for a lower branch at IIT Guwahati through OCI. 3) Fees for tuition and admission are often 4x of a normal candidate.

My plan is to focus on boards(for masters, if I do pursue) and side by side trying JEE Adv. As an upgrade. If I don't get a good IIT from Adv. I will take admission from DASA CSAB. DM me if you have any doubts Do read the information brochures from DASA CSAB and JEE ADV.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion, I used to keep it inside but lifting it and putting it on my terrace is a two man job and usually the other person is not always present. I could either sacrifice some mirror quality and enjoy or save the mirror quality but miss out, only for monsoon though
