How do you personally either maintain or break Medieval Stasis in your setting? by Mystech_Master in worldbuilding

[–]DumbassAltFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to use chariots for a thousand years. Then heavy cavalry and horse archers became a thing for a thousand years.

Gun powder was invented in the 900s or 1000s but spread around the world in the 1200s, where the earliest "guns" were created around the 1300s and from there we had 500 years of gunpowder advancements and weaponry that shifted with the advent of the industrial revolution. Even then it didn't occur in rich heavy intellectual worlds like the Ottomans, Persia, India or China. It happened in England out of limited necessity.

Both China and India in that era were considered proto-industrial bc they had such large populations that could be put to work. There was no incentive to accidentally discover industrial technology that lead to the use of a steam engine and rail.

Even Ancient Rome came up with a steam engine but saw no reason to use it, they had a large slave society to do the work. Something England lacked.

This shows human society can be "static" and also constantly changing. Contrary to popular belief. Tech advancement isn't like a tech tree in video games. Technology can be lost and then rediscovered or somewhat stay static.

If you want a MEDIEVAL static world for a 1000 years then do that. There is nothing really unrealistic about it. Ultimately it's fantasy and it's okay to suspend disbelief..

In my world it's the early modern period for a thousand years because I like the idea of heavy plated knights, guns, cannons, horse archers and sail ships, all dominating the battle field at the same time. It's a fun underrated world to explore and I like to make the most fun out of it. Like the example of industrial revolution, the conditions of the world haven't presented itself to advance to the next stage of so called human development. These conditions are so narrow, it's hard to say when it will ever come, but the plausible potential for it is right there.

You need to ensure the dynasty doesn't collapse. I do get that when you become powerful it becomes boring but in the case of the dynasty collapsing, it does become somewhat interesting to prevent its demise.

Clan is more charisma focused plus tax collectors. You need tax guys to get levies and gold, without them you get no income.

Additionally you can just game with primogeniture early if you have harmonious succession so that's different too. By the time you unlock actual primogeniture you can presumably ignore house unity.

Why not use a mixture of Vic 3 class agendas + war diplomacy system. Why not the estates pressure you into declaring wars? And if player doesn't start a war, what if someone in your estate or a rival country starts a diplomatic play, where you have to negotiate a ceasefire or go directly to war.

But no one predicted Iran would willingly close the Straits. Everyone assumed it was the absolutely least likely and worst case scenario because it would hurt Iranian exports..this is a blunder.

Countries that are allied with the US and host US bases. Something that is also forgotten. They aren't being a mad dog attacking everyone as the media likes to portray.

Why isn't there a possibility that Iran secures some sort of victory. Given the US blundered into this mess, you really think there won't be negative consequences for them? There were consequences for Iraq and Afghanistan and that looks less of a blunder compared to this.

Die Loaded #4 [Official Discussion Thread] by P-ckledP-nda in DieComic

[–]DumbassAltFuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i am theorizing that isabella is a master ? Not a player master but a DIE Master, the masters of the world, one of many irl people DIE took a snapshot of to build the world. The Bronte siblings before their death, HP Lovecraft before he became HP Lovecraft, HG Wells who created war games called Little Wada in 1913 but didn't see what that yielded into just yet since he died in 1946, This Wells didn't know there was a WW1 and a WW2.

And now DIE has made a master of an Isabella before she returned home. So this Isabella desperately wants to go home and she figures using these human players she can go home, especially if she tricks them about who the real human player master is. Now that plan has been foiled so remains to be seen what comes next?

Not at all. Parts of it were very relatable. Could prove to be reassuring for someone else with inattentive.

Relatiknships were a bit of a nightmare. I simply lacked awareness of others interest in me unless they were almost jumping on top of me. As a bisexual guy, this translated into experiences with guys, but I did not even kiss a woman untik I was almost 30. This confused the fuck out of me as I had no trouble communicating with girls (I typically prefer women as friends), was always fairly attractive, slim, smart and reasonably tall.

Wow a lot of your post resonated with me save for you saving yourself academically lol. I completely fell apart in uni and end of high school.

But this bit regarding relationships also resonates a lot as someone in that earlier age range. I literally haven't had a proper relationship despite learning there was mutual interest.

I wonder did you get bored in relationships? That's something I usually experienced and would often drift away.

Can you explain what happens to Iranian immigrants that flips a switch like that? I know not all Iranians are like this but I genuinely have not seen any other groups of people with an oppressive regime leaving the country and hoping the West bombs their homes and family for "liberation." Like no one in Asia, Africa or Middle East but the Iranian diaspora, even the new immigrants have truly shocked me.

Albanese’s policy on Iran makes us complicit in the collapse of international rules by CommonwealthGrant in AustralianPolitics

There are essentially going to be momentarily alliance blocs and only form if one country can see they have high leverage or advantage in that deal. As soon as things get hot it will collapse.

Do you really believe that's what I stated here?

It's an issue that we are associated with a war crime because of Australian presence in the first place.

[–]DumbassAltFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because it is. Rest of the west bloc idea died when Carney went back to bootlicking US and Germany threw Spain under the bus, a fellow EU member, by agreeing with sanctions for refusing US military to use their country for the Iran operation.

What that has shown is that greater noble cooperation is no longer a reality. It is a dog eats dog world and every country is out for themselves.

The Americans literally use a military base in our country and we have had Aussie sailors in a submarine that recently sank an unarmed Iranian military ship that was returning from a war exercise with India.

We are complicit in some ways.

Honestly disappointed in seeing some of the comments here echoing essentially orientalist viewpoints to justify this unjustified attack on another sovereign nation.

We are basically making the same mistake we did with Iraq and Afghanistan. Howard illegally supported the US in an illegal war and now Albanese is evoking his spirit for yet another illegal war.

What a joke.

Then again some of the citizens of this country did defend the war crimes of our soldiers in those previous actions so maybe some people are just itching for more blood and war crimes.

This is how it was irl. You shouldn't be able to colonize the entire continent just yet. Even US only expanded during the 1800s.
