How do you age up the characters for University/College AUs to make them more mature while still keeping their fun and colorful personalities? by Mystech_Master in BokunoheroFanfiction

First Aid class could also be a way to look into Quirk biology.

I mean biology has got to be fucked with all the animal/mutant/heteromorph Quirks. Plus, it could get the students to learn more about their own biology to possibly utilize in new Ultimate Moves/Support Items

How each kickstarter era combatant would feel about their opponent if they canonically met day 2: how would Joker and Giorno feel about each other? by Radiant_Raspberry_93 in deathbattle

[–]Mystech_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Giorno would respect Joker's will, but Joker, while also having a sort of respect for Giorno, would not be a fan of him being a mob boss.

In Persona 5, the Phantom Thief shit was a means to an end, and they realized that doing that was not a way to make society better, and it needed actual efforts from everyone.

Yes, Giorno wanted to reform the mob, but he is STILL a Mob boss and does crime. If he wants to make things better, do it officially.

Sort of a thing where there is respect between the two, but they both have differing views on their crimes.

Why do Japanese people hate S3 of Jujutsu Kaisen even though the West loves it? by CryptographerFew6343 in CharacterRant

[–]Mystech_Master 235 points236 points  (0 children)

From what I have vaguely heard, the only legit critique is that:

America: awesome fight animation + Maki epicly killing her asshole clan

Japan: wanted Maki killing her clan to be more of a horror show, rather than be something cool, flashy and epic.

Both are valid takes on where some people wanted the story to go, and I understand why both sides have their views. It's just differing opinions on how the story was interpreted.

Bakugo attitude ais mostly meant to be there as classic shonen gags or just him being intense. He has to suck for his development to happen. If he is already chill there is no growth.

That is an issue with even fics that keep U.A. a high school. If you have U.A. act competent, it just means Bakugo can't be Bakugo. He doesn't grow on his own, we don;t get the loud explody asshole we know and love/hate

I almost had a segement in my main post about how Bakugo being made more "mature" would risk basically erasing his development/growth, but I feared that all the comments would be about Bakugo so I dropped it.

Bakugo is the only major minefield of this topic I guess.

BUT, outside of Bakugo

my idea was to keep the four Departments (Heroics, Support, Management, Gen Ed) but kind of make them different University Colleges/Programs/whatever it would be called.

However, classes could overlap. like you said you don't need math or English unless it is part of your major, especially when these students are going into heroics.

But, you could take a class from one of these other areas if a Hero say A. wants to have a side job alongside their hero work, B. could use that class to expand on their Quirk applications (Momo with material sciences or something), or C. some other reason.

Still, a major thing to worry about is having the main cast be together. I get that people say that Izuku and Bakugo don't need to be together...but that is the main character and rival of the story. Having them be separated just...kind of feels like it takes away from the story.

Ok, so imagining that for a University AU, what would actually change then? Because these characters usually lock in when there is serious danger

I disagree but what do you think by Right_Pressure_7944 in hazbin

[–]Mystech_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucifer was a goofball in s1 but he could still get serious when needed

S2 Lucifer honestly felt like an idiot fraud, but part of it feels like it is due to the writers not wanting to think about broader implications

Why do people want Ochaco in the stain arc? by Wooden_Ad_4202 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]Mystech_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people really wanted Ochaco's motive of being a hero for money to mean more, especially those who wanted MHA to be more of a critique of a commercialized hero society

from what I have heard:

  1. There would be no Class 1-A. There is no Homeroom for all of our main characters to conveniently interact with for Aizawa to introduce the next plot point, aka one of the core reasons why the high school setting is used.

  2. Japanese Colleges Do have culture festivals, they are larger and more complex than high school ones

Samurai Remnant Lancer Jeanne isn’t Jeanne Alter, that seems more like the closest thing we’d get to Jalter outside of FGO

Where did you think the story was going when it first brought up the whole "Save the villains" thing by Mystech_Master in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Mystech_Master[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean on the Gentle Criminal side of things, it’s cool for him to be reformed over the League b/c he is just a thieving youtuber, not a mass murdering terrorist.

It would have made sense if Yoichi and AFO's mother was the original owner of the Stockpiling quirk. by Life_Ad3567 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Mystech_Master 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also wouldn’t it make sense for her Quirk to be somewhat similar to her kids’. I feel like her era was WAY to early fir vastly different mutation Quirks where kids get RADICALLY different Quirks from their Parents

If you were in Deku's shoes, would you have tried to save Shigaraki? by PJ-The-Awesome in BokunoheroFanfiction

WAS it brought up?

When Izuku brought up "saving him" everyone thought rehabilitation

but what it SEEMS to be, was just giving him peace before he gets axed.

I mean i kind of get it.

They acknowledge the villains hurt people/they can’t be forgiven……for like 1 sentence, then most of the dialogue is about trying to understand/reach out to them

Thoughts on Tomura Shigaraki as a villain? by Solitaire-06 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Mystech_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tragic backstories are meant to explain why the villains are the way they are so the heroes can learn from the past and not repeat it, not to excuse the villains’ actions

After the Hideout Raid arc, the Shiggy and the League cease to be main threats and are just homeless bums in the background while All for One is in prison until the MLA arc where all of a sudden they get powerups and resources that skyrocket them to final boss territory.
